If it is only a casual ersatz of James Bond (under Daniel Craig) and Mission: Impossible, this thriller espionage chic and fun worn by an eclectic casting (Hugh Grant is impayable) nevertheless shows a skillful execution and some narrative vivacity. Not the best Ritchie (his style if characteristic is little marked) or the best Statham (the castagna is lazy), but an elegant production that does not take itself seriously.
IMAGE - Globe-trotters in good tone
Blu-ray point for comparison but a UHD HDR10 transfer (Dolby Vision on the US edition) generally solid that restores beautiful images (which it owes to the leader op Alan Stewart) certainly not lacking in appearance.
So apart from a few traces of postrization, a slight granularity (voluntary?) when the sun radiates the screen and a gamma a high hair (the image seems a little too bright in the middle), it is to a complete digital success that we are dealing with.
The definition is of great finesse (the background is very clear), the details abound at the four corners of the wide frame (without getting lost in the shadows), the colorimetric palette is particularly intense (cf. the red and blue tones), the blacks are illustrated by a beautiful depth and the high luminances really do not lack of punch (light of the day, the neons of private jets).
- It's gonna be a big deal!
The VO Auro-3D 13.1 (recognized as DTS-HD MA 5.1 by my system) and DTS-HD MA 7.1 (Dolby Atmos on the US edition) fully exploit the speakers that are allocated to them, impress on the attention paid to their sound designs (from the intro with the noise of the steps that comes to mix at the score while being intersected with pyrotechnic effects).
The dynamic fills the room with its power (without any deflection), the acoustic environment is particularly intoxicating, the surround channels engage all along (the crowd on the yacht or in the streets), the music of Christopher Benstead (An angry man) is as wide as enveloping, the LFE channel delivers the goods not without impact (the blows carried, the engine of the Ford Mustang, the explosions) and the dialogues are delivered cleanly (a bounty to delight with the piquéed replicas of humor of theAubrey Plaza).
More moderate in its energy and less rich at the front (dubbing suffocating certain atmospheres), the VF remains no less spectacular (rear spatialization now its agitation despite the loss of two channels).
With a virtualization DSP (which I recommend enable), a lot of information (less accurate by selecting the DTS-HD MA runways) invite in heights such as resonance in a tunnel, overflights of helicopters, etc.
CONCLUSION - The role of a life?
Hired in a risky operation to lure a criminal who is maladly fan of him, the actor of Danny Francesco films (Josh Hartnett fun like crazy) will help a quartet of agents to get hold of « The Handle »... A mind-blowing spy entertainment to discover in 4K Ultra HD (rather than on Premium Video) to enjoy classic A/V services!
