WORK – An eternal electric rest!

In order to integrate a student brotherhood, Julie must submit to an initiation rite: spend an entire night in an imposing funeral monument, under the control of two other students. But the mausoleum is that of an ancient Magi, who had terrifying psychic powers...

After a nice entry into matter (the mysterious discovery of corpses in a dreadful apartment), this nicely horrific teen move activates the « slow burn » and spend an hour brushing teen loves in the purest tradition of the melodramas of the 80s. It will finally take the last 15 minutes to get into the life of the subject during a very friendly final bouquet orchestrated by the Lord of the Keys (the children having known the board gameAtmosfearin the 1990s will have the ref). Because in the absence of hemoglobin and authentic strong sensations (the fear will only be felt by the protagonists), the mortifying atmosphere and suspense (which he skillfully cleans) are finally there!

IMAGE – Cadaveric Lividities

The absence of part of the original material necessarily limits the restoration work, this master HD leaves many flaws. The frame is unstable, there are spots everywhere, several vertical stripes invite to the right of the image, the reel changes are rough as desired, some planes display with a noticeable softness and the contrast rate is irregular.

It does not prevent the colorimetric palette from drawing with honors (the saturation of the shades is generally very good), that the level of detail is frankly laudable (the precision of the make-up) and that the silver texture remains (an unfrozen living grain) without being too thick.

SON – The silence of the dead

Despite constant buzzing, the clicks of this one and a blatant lack of precision (cf. the restitution of music), the monophonic VO 2.0 remains sufficiently clear in addition to delivering raw effects of de-offrage as well as dialogues never stifled.

Already that its (good) dubbing encroaches on the original mixing (some atmospheres have joined the deceased), the monophonic VF 2.0 which has nothing to do with homogenous must endure a bulky breath.

CONCLUSION – Time capsule?

Falling into oblivion since its release, this horrific rarity of the 80s that smells good naphthalin is to (re)discover in Blu-ray within the collection anguish of Rimini Éditions. And if his A/V performances are not particularly fresh, the presence of a 24-page booklet (Open Tombs) designed by Marc Toulelec is a significant plus to learn more about this mausoleum of the nightmare. Are you ready for a real night of terror?

One Dark Night

Nyctalope like Riddick and with a very good hearing, I am ready to jump on physical editions and SVOD platforms. But if the quality isn't on the rendezvous, stop at the bite! #WeLovePhysicalMedia
