WORK – The legend of « Captain Walker »
Max, back, got rid of his skinny good. Following the thief, he arrived at the City of Troc, where Entity reigned. She hired him to rid her of Master and Blaster, kings of the Underground World. When Max wanted to kill Blaster, he was abandoned in the middle of the desert, where he came back at the head of a group of children to blow up the Troc city.
Elegating his words and his violence, this third part which opens up to a wider audience revisits the peplum as civilization begins to reborn.
More aseptic and greatly humanizing his hero, who, like a prophet, will allow the advent of a new world founded by children to the wonderful candour, this tale lets escape danger (humanity seems to be stolen) and motorized action (except the « Kindness » final race-continuation, Max is here in pedestrian mode) of his illustrious elders for a different approach from the universe of Mad Max.
Far from the opportunistic but too static repetition in view of the crazy energy of its predecessors (where the movement passed « signature » of the saga?), this opus far from being uninteresting (creative ideas abound) is ultimately rather disappointing.
IMAGE – In the shelter in the oasis
Garnished with a thin layer of grain (homogeneous and better reproduced) and dominated by brown and sandy hues that WCG makes denser (except in the marker) « blue » This UHD HDR10 transfer, resulting from a 4K restoration of the 35 mm negatives, benefits from increased sharpness (see otherwise more textured backgrounds), reinforced contrasts (even if the blacks are never pure) and improved brightness (lighting of the undergrounds, the flashlight).
SON – We don't need another hero ♪♪♪
More « Faithful » that of the 2nd episode (not effects removed and/or added here), this soundtrack Dolby Atmos well balanced generously fills the play listening to atmospheres and music.
The voices are precise, the spatialization which is wide-ranging (the chattering in Bartertown, the buzzing machines of the Underground World) does not hesitate to extend its presence to the rear (the screaming of the wind), the height scene is regularly requested (the passages of Jedediah's plane, the echo of the pigs, the crowd as a lieness covering the dome of thunder, the song of the birds) and the score of Maurice Jarre enjoys an admirable fidelity. Quite silent, the LFE channel only rarely has the opportunity to express whether it is for the shots and the purring of the engines.
Less rich and immersive, the necessarily frontal VF cannot « Play big arms » Hey!
CONCLUSION – Two men come in, a man comes out!
Even if it remains the weak link of the franchise, this second suite that more than ever unfolds the post-apocalyptic vision of its creator, emerges victorious from its entry into the arena of the 4K Ultra HD!
