WORK – Freedom is dead in America
The famous « Big One » It was feared in 1998 and isolated Los Angeles from the rest of the United States. Fifteen years later, the United States had a particularly puritan and politically correct president who sent all the offenders to Los Angeles, the most dangerous island in the world. Cuervo Jones, a Latin American anarchist, reigns over this piece of land and has put himself in the head, with the help of the daughter of the president who rallied to her cause, to neutralize all the artificial energy sources of the planet.
Incomprehensive when it comes out, this big finger of honour addressed to American society (starting with aesthetic surgery and politics), politically correct (a permanent insult to good taste) and to the recycling factory that has become Hollywood (the twink of an eye mischievous to the Teeth of the sea, the first blockbuster of history, nothing new), is a post-apocalyptic western with a rock spirit where one finds with unmistakable pleasure the legendary Snake Plissken, the most classy antiheroic figure of the 7th art.
False remakes so much playful that it will also pass on the very visible SFX (the company was bankrupt during the post-production of the film) and some approximate interpretations, this Cartoon show certainly inferior to its illustrious elder still remains much more fun and uncomplexed while proving itself to be the most personal work of a bitter Big John than ever.
IMAGE – Los Angeles the decadent
Out of chaos, this UHD Dolby Vision transfer far superior to its aging HD counterpart thrives on the unfamished streets of the City of Angels.
Beautifully organic and fully cleaned, the image flows much sharper details than in the past (the pores of the skin, the dilapidated environments), much better reproduced colours with the radiance found (cf. explosions), otherwise more robust contrasts (finished, dark blacks and creamy whites) for better management of the ambient darkness, and otherwise brighter light sources (projectors, interior lighting, vehicle headlights).

In place of a DTS-HD MA 5.1 encoding (the previous Blu-ray proposed a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track), this obvious mixing of a scale and a voluntary immersion outrancing.
The score is very enveloping, clarity is never a problem, the placement of effects/ambiences is consistent, the presence of the rear scene is excellent and the basses powerful (earthquakes). If you have a virtualization DSP, it will enable you to retrieve a lot of information in the heights such as the collapse of the bridge, announcements in the speakers or the overflight of helicopters.
