Link, smart as a monkey?

From a 4K scan operated by Studiocanal from the original negative, this excellent UHD HDR10 presentation, with a short hair (between 42nd and 43rd minutes), hits with its easily filmic 35 mm texture (the management of the silver grain is rigorous) and its luminosity grows (the Blu-ray is a little darker).

Very clean and perfectly balanced (the touch of modernity brought by the HDR does not denature photography in any way), it also reinvigorates the colors (it is notable on primarys as the green scene of the valley), uses a solid definition that hides nothing from the sharp details (its HD counterpart is softer) and has brighter, more animated sources (such as candle at lunch in the dining room).

If the riveting « circus » composed by Jerry Goldsmith (Gremlins is never very far away) benefits from the same clarity and an equal dynamic on the three sound tracks, the stereo VO which is « damaged » by a pronounced breath turns out to be less sinister than his monophonic consoeurs. In short, more harmonious and profiting from a better restitution of dialogues (a little too much enhanced in VF), mono soundtracks are to be favored.

It should be noted that, by activating a virtualization DSP, the acoustic field is articulated out of the frontal scene (music, fire propagation) while animating the high voices during a memorable passage (link movements in the ventilation duct). Now you know what you have to do.

CONCLUSION – Murder as a man?

Limited to 1000 copies and generous in supplements, this superb 4K Ultra HD edition deposited in a three-part digipack makes us better perceive the danger around!
