WORK – The half-gods of humanity
Since the dawn of humanity, the Eternals, a group of heroes from the outer limits of the universe, have protected the Earth. When the Deviants, monstrous creatures that were thought to have disappeared for a long time, mysteriously reappear, the Eternals are again obliged to come together to defend humanity...
Hidden behind the superpowers, this 4-star casting blockbuster, divine artistic direction and incarnate characters, stands out from the « mould » Marvel by bringing to it a humanity and sensitivity unprecedented in frankness.
More intimate than usual and irrigated with deep melancholy, this Greek tragedy, with its rhythm and the freely externalized emotional impulses, is more interested in the dynamics of a dysfunctional family (the filmmaker's favourite subject) than in action, no less epic. A true renewal in the world of the MCU!
IMAGE – Protecting the Earth
Darker and more cinegenic than the Blu-ray, the image of this UHD HDR10 transfer adjusts the beautiful contemplative photograph of the work without impressing (the graphic style sought does not lend much to it).
The definition is improved (the backgrounds in the background), the details gain in finesse (faces, costumes), the colorimetric palette is richer and nuanced (super-powers), the contrasts are deeper (deeper blacks and brighter whites) and the light sources, little demonstrative by nature, are displayed with excess intensity (sunset, public lighting, cloudy skies).
SON – To the Heavenly
Limited in its basses (a constance at Disney) but wider than expected, this Dolby Atmos soundtrack with excellent clarity benefits from clear dialogues, careful spatialization (cf. panoramic sound movements during moving scenes), cleverly exploited surround channels (atmospheric atmospheres), relevant height effects (flying creatures, Arishem voice, debris, laser beams d'Ikaris) and a well-ventilated score.
With a more authoritarian LFE channel, the VFF is more physical than its sister as soon as it moves on the screen (especially during the final sequence). Nevertheless, immersion is less.
CONCLUSION – They're watching over us.
If they will divide off-track, the « new Avengers » develop a spirituality and cosmic powers even more marked in 4K Ultra HD. A certain advantage in this eternal fight for our world!
