WORK – The harvest started...
In a small village in Nebraska, a teenage sect dedicated a bloody cult to a demonic entity massacres all adults and takes possession of the place. Three years later, Dr. Burt Stanton and his fiancée Vicky crossed the area to reach Seattle...
If he misleads Stephen King's work that he adapts (we talk about the failed end... or not?), Children of the Corn Nevertheless, there remains a good series B (ageing) strangely insightful of the dangers of religious fanaticism. The story is intriguing, the mysterious atmosphere and the concept is cold behind the back. When children (corn lovers) sow terror, the adult nightmare comes to life!

Restored from the original 35 mm negatives, this Dolby Vision UHD transfer turns out to be really striking despite the hazards of the source equipment. With the exception of a few poorly solved and/or sprinkled plans of an impenetrable grain (when the frame is zoomed in), the image proposed here is overall superb.
More dynamic, sharp and detailed, it benefits from authentic granularity, more distinct textures (clothes, surroundings), a more picturesque colorimetric palette (better saturated primary and more subtle secondary shades), less limited contrasts (the demarcation of shadows is excellent where whites come out better) and brighter lighting (reflections on bodywork, daylight, flames).
SON – Shut the fuck up, preacher!
Perhaps not the most immersive multichannel track (a frontal mix by nature) and coherent of the market (the score always sounds too loud), but a nicely expanded sound field on the sides (the environmental atmosphere), properly reproduced dialogues, demonic music (accompanied by a children's choir) « overwhelming » and robust bass.
Better balanced, the stereo proposal is ultimately more natural even if less enveloping.
CONCLUSION – Can you get some popcorn?
If you ever worship this folk horror « Cheap » become cult with the years, no doubt that the present 4K Ultra HD answered vox prayers!
