WORK – It's the history of life...
At the bottom of the African savannah, all animals celebrate the birth of Simba, their future king. Months pass. Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, who takes it to heart to make him understand the stakes of his royal destiny. But not everyone seems to think so. Scar, Mufasa's brother, the former heir to the throne, has his own plans. The battle for the takeover of the Lion Earth is ravaged by betrayal, tragedy and tragedy, which eventually leads to the exile of Simba. With the help of two new friends, Timon and Pumbaa, the young lion will have to find out how to grow up and take back what belongs to him rightfully...
The remake in live action (and almost identical) of Disney's 1994 masterpiece (at the limit of an animal documentary) certainly cannot dethrone the original (for the oldest among us), but seduced by the amazing beauty of his images and the reorchestration (signed Hans Zimmer) of his cultism songs. Hakuna Matata is the return of Simba!
IMAGE – Savannah beauty
Visually incredible, this 4K Ultra HD shines with a thousand lights.
The increased resolution adds to the clarity of the frame and the fineness of the details (furs, moustaches, trees, grass strands), the magnificent colorimetric palette is reinforced by deeper hues (green tones) and nuanced (the orange tones of lions), the improvement of contrasts subtly adjusts the illumination of the planes (whites are more intense and blacks better cut) and the light sources are otherwise bolder (sun, daylight, flames).
But even if it is reduced here, the tingling that sometimes invites itself on digital hairs is still present.
SON – Hakuna Matata, What a fantastic song!
Once the volume has been adjusted (+ 10 dB), and despite compressed dynamics and limited bass (a constancy at Disney), these balanced soundtracks offer a generally robust auditory performance even if far from the demonstration that such a title would have deserved.
But thanks to a great feeling of immersion (the spatialisation is excellent) and the flights of music (the star of this mix), they appear as always alive... especially in VO where the muscular passages (the crazy race of the herd of gnus and the final confrontation) are more engaged and where the aerial scene (the voice of Mufasa, the thunder and many atmospheres) adds to the envelope felt.
CONCLUSION – To roar for pleasure
Dignified of a King, this Ultra HD Blu-ray will make immortal this (re)cycle eternal!
Nyctalope like Riddick and with a very good hearing, I am ready to jump on physical editions and SVOD platforms. But if the quality isn't on the rendezvous, stop at the bite! #WeLovePhysicalMedia
