WORK – Romance at the White House
Andrew Sheperd, the current president of the United States, is a young, dynamic, liberal man. His life is blameless. Widow, he takes care of his girl with great intent. Andrew will fall in love with Sidney Ellen Wade, an environmental lobbyist, which triggers media aggression. Its opponents take advantage of it to attack the president on his morality.
Worn by the alchemy of the Michael Douglas couple – Annette Benning, this charming romantic comedy scented with political arena gives off a certain elegance. Unoffensive, but highly sympathetic.
IMAGE – Between the walls of the Oval Office
Far from being recent, this HD copy is still generally good. Apart from a few dirts on the master and an artificial sharpening of the contours (halos from there) that numerically reinforces the cinematic softness of the shots, the silver texture is preserved, the images are well detailed, the colorimetric palette is superb (the primary ones are majestic), the contrasts are well managed (the blacks are deeper than on the too bright US disk) and the compression is solid.
SON – No matter what you say
Quite limited in its sound environment except during occasional passages (the state dinner, the arrival of the helicopter), the multichannel VO prioritizes the clarity of its dialogues and the « magic » of its enveloping music.
Forcedly frontal, the VF 2.0 stifles many of its atmospheres because of too prominent dubbing.
CONCLUSION – In the middle of an election campaign...
Well gone to win the presidential election, this Blu-ray lives a beautiful love story at the White House!
