WORK – The return of Mowgli
Raised by a family of wolves, Mowgli, the « Little man » No longer welcome in the jungle: the dreadful tiger Shere Khan, who still bears the scars of his confrontation with men, swore to eliminate the one he sees as a threat. Forced to abandon the only home he has ever known, Mowgli begins an extraordinary journey to discover his own identity, with Bagheera guides, a panther that turns out to be a severe mentor, and Baloo, a free and open-minded bear. On his way, Mowgli will meet ill-intentioned jungle creatures, such as Kaa, a python with hypnotic voice and gaze, or King Louie, a beautiful monkey speaking.
Full of adventures and emotions, this exciting initiatory journey (both close and different from the classic Disney) is an incredible technical feat to animals more real than nature, sumptuous scenery and dynamic staging.
IMAGE – The jungle comes to life
The richness of details, colors, lighting, contrasts and blacks permanently spells out the retina... especially as in direct comparison with its HD counterpart, the calibration of the colorimetric palette is more alive (the lush greens of the jungle, the warmth of the « red flower »), the textures in the shadows are better defined and the beauty of the light sources is reinforced (light of the day, the virulence of the flames and the passing of the light).

SOUND – Singing is not playing
The atmospheres of the jungle, the noise of the animals and the succulent rhythm of the music are very enveloping (once the volume increased by 10 dB)... especially in VO where the high channels bring much to the sound experience (meeting with Kaa, hunting honey, climbing to the temple of King Louis, etc.).
But the show aimed primarily at children, the dynamics as the bass (a – bad – habit at Disney) remain measured.
CONCLUSION – Does it take little to be happy?
Technically bluffing, this Odyssey of Pi(xels) is to be watched in Ultra HD Blu-ray. Have confidence!
