While I regularly repatriate my old 4K Ultra HD tests before MaG, I ended up with a certain amount adopting a format more than light. In fact, rather than abandoning them in the limbos of the web, I had the idea of creating this section. And then, this Bazar isn't there to replace my longer and more detailed articles. Good reading!

In the breath of an authentic epic wind, this plasticly grandiose maritime epic, both intimate (human survival) and ultra-spectacular (high-risk fishing), harpoons us without ever dropping the pressure. No big improvement in terms of definition and details, but more subtle contrasts, more intense colors, clearer dark scenes and much more pronounced variations in brightness. Continuous wave noise, shoveling effects and hull cracking are the most widely disseminated elements of this very muscular mix, which can also cause bass to grow and give the score scope.

This fable of SF visually splendid and deeply moving with members of the South African rap-rave group Die Antwoord, is a striking anticipation work as gifted of intelligence as rich in adrenaline. The definition is better, the colors and contrasts are more stylized, the blacks are deeper and the dynamic range is significantly higher. Impressive mixing with subtle spatialization, regular surround activity and specific direct (gunshot) or indirect (helicopter) effects.

Filmed with virtuosity and nostalgia, this boxing film as sensitive as it is intense is a beautiful relay passage between a Stallone which gives back the weapons and a Michael B. Jordan Ready to go. The saga found a second breath! It is sober and granular with glacial colors and many scenes immersed in darkness. The HDR is only actually expressed during the fighting (neon) and the pitch is barely more precise than in HD. Size, bass and ambiance (the fervour of the crowd and urban life) for immersive mixing that uses front and rear speakers with discernment. The VO is more stimulating than the VF, which has fewer bodies.

A bit stupid and absolutely crazy hero who piles up the corpses as fast as he uses serious punchlines, for a frantic act of entertainment that breaks the codes and makes a finger of honor at convenience. A clear increase in detail, a more detailed range of colours, dark scenes with more information, a more impressive depth of field and a beautiful exploitation of the capabilities of the HDR (lights, reflections). An immersive VO with spectacular aerial activity (helicopter passage, vehicles swinged over the spectator), a high-impact rear scene and vigorous bass. The VF remains good but cannot fight.

More than a century after the legendary novel of Bram Stoker, the story of Dracula continues to inspire Hollywood with this new version pleasant for the eyes but arid for the heart which is in the end only a blockbuster lambda. Provided with a very pleasant silver grain and exceptional detail precision (but this was also the case in Blu-ray), this UHD HDR10 transfer in various warm/and cold colors although rare (it must be said that the photograph is extremely dark) brings out the gildings thanks to the WCG and takes advantage of HDR technology so that the light sources, occasional it is true, make us retreat like a vampire. Nevertheless, the scenes plunged into the darkness lose overall readability (while some details are exhumed from the ambient darkness) due to too much contrast. Feeding medieval atmospheres, war effects, epic music and low combative, this powerful soundtrack DTS:X stuffed with sounds in heights (wind, bats, etc.) is perfectly spatialized.

This reboot that has little to do with video-ludic saga Hitman is a series B of ultra-bourrine action to explosive staging, whose abracadabrantesque scenario is just a pretext to multiply at a delusional pace of painful close combat, completely crazy gunfights and hacking motor racing-suits. Brighter colours (the red tie), brighter reflections (bodywork), more lively lighting (Le Clerq's office), more legible dark scenes and a little more sharp details. From powerful and dynamic sound tracks to enveloping spatialization, to the imposing front balance, to the very present rear scene and to efficient basses. Even if it does, the VF cannot compete with the VO.

This hyper spectacular patriotic SF blockbuster with destructive SFX, 4-star casting, quaint action scenes and a welcome sense of humor, is a popcorn movie that fills eyes and ears. The silver grain is refined, the details are finer, the colors are richer and natural, the HDR contribution is great (laser rays, explosions, the legibility of blacks) and the special effects seem better integrated. Massive sound tracks (roaring of the box and dynamic set) screened with effects and atmospheres on all the speakers (highs included on the VO). The surround channels are no longer reversed on the VF.

This success story with American which paints an amazing portrait of a woman in a dysfunctional family, is a feel-good movie to the glory of her main actress that a full-scale staging makes more beautiful than ever. The vintage photograph (pick softener, unwashed black and 35mm grain) is unprofitable to the HDU. However, the more golden colours and the skillful operation of the HDR (snowy snow) mark a difference with HD. The back is wretched and the bass are discreet but there is not the subject of this work where dialogues and music are put on the front of the stage. The frontals therefore work between clarity of voices and balance of side effects.

Although calibrated for teenagers and therefore paralyzed in the sponcifs, this apocalyptic science fiction film with a dark atmosphere, surprisingly violent action scenes and convincing actors, is a good surprise. The gain in detail is there (velcros of uniforms), the colors are more dynamic and the HDR is very noticeable (luminosity of the sun, legibility of the dark scenes), but the blacks are sometimes washed out and thus compact the contrasts. Rich in atmospheres and strong dynamic side, the VO uses height effects (tree falls, floods) with intelligence to create a realistic acoustic environment. Even so powerful, VF loses in spatialization.

A Judeo-Christian biblical peplom with impeccable technical bills, whose quest for truth and faith holds on despite some diet declines due to too much chatter. Clearly improved definition, more complex details and textures, a deeper colorimetric palette, more legible blacks (a little too much in two sequences) and sometimes dazzling lights. A subtle feeling of immersion thanks to enveloping atmospheres, effects perfectly located even in height (storm and spears) and an extended score. The VF is very good but necessarily loses the verticality of the mixing.

Film adaptation of the incontourable SF novelOscar Scott Card, this film of profound anticipation to (rare) visually bluffing action scenes and welcome humanist reflections is guided by a cruel scenario with a strong point. As a team leader, the young Asa Butterfield is surprisingly credible. A clear gain in definition (finer textures), richer and saturated colors (yellow uniforms), and a clearly visible HDR (luxe lighting). To have deep (and unwashed) blacks on this disc, you will need to switch the player color mode to full RGB instead of YCbCr (4:4:4). Solidly built and singularly immersive with swinging effects/ambiences on all sides (good feeling of height) and burning bass.

This skillful, bold and terribly gore-gore rereadinga classic cinema bis is a series B shock in subjective vision (we follow the scalp killer through his eyes), where the unhealthy atmosphere and the murders of a dazzling savagery will not fail to make many spectators uncomfortable (sensible souls abstain)... Especially in 4K Ultra HD! Say goodbye to the fluctuating contrasts, the shallow blacks and the sometimes visible compression of Blu-ray, because this new master corrects the wanderings of the past (the many dark scenes are now magnificent) while having a definition that looks even more proud, much more surgical details (when the frame is not deliberately cloudy), colors that are otherwise more saturated and lights with the increased vitality. A very realistic mix (see Frank Zito's voice and breathing that seem to come from the middle of the room) to dynamic frontal opening, to the spatialization worked (flies that pass from one speaker to the other), to solid bass and to the particularly well ventilated score.

Marvellous, creative and perpetuity to sell for this virevoltant adventure film that unwittingly lets itself go to an overabundance of special effects. If stereoscopic experience « Grand-eightesque » is clearly the one to favor (the film was designed for a 3D output), the UHD image does not demerit even if the gap with its HD counterpart remains tenuous. And yes, the Blu-ray, which was already well defined and contrasted, does not suffer from any real fault on the side of London of the 40s (with sad monochrome hues) as on the side of the imaginary Country (with flamboyant colors). Moreover, it is not with the details (the increase is far too small) nor with the contrasts (no improvement of the blacks!) that the present 4K Ultra HD can differ from its predecessor. Nevertheless, he managed to score a few points thanks to the increased vivacity of the primaries (which came out better during the dark scenes) and to the shine (a little) increased lighting. A soundtrack of fabulous richness and breadth where effects/ambiences spring out from all sides (good perception of height) with as much sin as finesse.

Funny and very pleasant, this cult film with unbridled creativity remains a fantastic entertainment always as effective. A clear gain in definition, more precise details, more vibrant colors and brighter brightness (light sources). Still, allergics with silver grain will quickly disappoint because there are a lot of them. The more loud and less precise VF cannot fight against the VO, whose contribution of height brings a realism and additional details to a mix already full of effects and ambiances often even generous at the back (flavours).

A little more pushive than her glorious elder, this fantastic comedy still remains a dreadful entertainment with vintage charm always as appreciative. The textures gain in finesse, the definition is improved, the colors are more refined and the gain of the HDR is clearly visible in black (more detailed) and in daylight (light). Moreover, the silver grain knows how to be discreet. With its clear dialogues, its rich sound environment (even more with the contribution of verticality) with chaotic effects and realistic atmospheres, its lively score and its bass farms, the VO sprays the most tightened VF.

Thrilling drum, this disaster film XXL with stunning special effects is a good old-fashioned entertainment. The accuracy of the blacks has been corrected since the HD transfer and the input of the HDR is indisputable (the glare of the sun) but the details, unlike the much more pronounced grain here, are no more visible. A noise cataclysm with formidable spatialization, stunning height effects (buildings collapse on us) and seismic bass.

This medico-sports drama from real events where Will Smith a new health, narrates the captivating struggle of a man who is maltreated but determined to prove his discovery. A more pronounced clarity, better controlled contrasts, a deeper colorimetric palette and many more refined details. The voices are natural, the placement of the effects is very precise and the spatialization of the music is wonderful (cf. the nightclub scene).

Ejaculated by brutal fighting and populated by deeply human characters (including aliens), this animated DC film exploring the xenophobic problem is provided with a graphic paw more worked than usual and a modern scenario taking on (it revisits the origins of Superman). Thanks to a visual style very different from most productions of the DCAU, this UHD transfer can also stand out from its colleagues. Amply increased bitrate allows to adjust the worries related to compression (even if it remains here some traces of colour banding), the contours (thickness) are much better drawn, the colorimetric palette which is much deeper returns with more refinement of many shades (reds/oranges at the head), the contrasts that have been strengthened allow the appearance of details in scenes immersed in the darkness, and the HDR10 encoding gives to the slightest light source a liveliness that cannot reach the Blu-ray CSD. Driven by a very good dynamic range and a variety of effects/ambiences (both front and back), this mixing enveloping and striking (cf. muscular bass) manifests a real effort for a DC Animated Universe DA.

While he sometimes draws the beaten paths of melodrama, this adventure film seduces by the beauty of his landscapes and the unexploited charm of his heroine who tries to rebuild himself during a long (and taking) inner journey. There is only the fineness of the details (the bark of the trees), the greater clarity during the dark scenes and some reflections of the sun to differentiate this UHD transfer from its HD counterpart, especially since here the grain is more imposing. Voluntaryly quiet even if nature envelops, music wanders and 2/3 bass hit hard. At its level, the VF is much less extensive and profound than the VO.

Too nice and disincarnated despite an epic climax, this origin-story with mythological action is far too anecdotal to fill anyone apart from unconditional fans of DC Animated Universe. The few clearer lines, the reduction of the colour banding, the adjustment of the contrasts and the deepening of the colors (cf. the primary ones) allow this transfer UHD HDR10 to obtain a modest upgrade compared to its HD counterpart. However, the ultra-sacred animation of the first part (before the title appeared) that remains of the game is a real problem. Active at the front, a little less at the back if not when the clashes begin, this soundtrack typical of the DCAU productions can rely on the LFE channel to bring it the weight it takes.
Nyctalope like Riddick and with a very good hearing, I am ready to jump on physical editions and SVOD platforms. But if the quality isn't on the rendezvous, stop at the bite! #WeLovePhysicalMedia
