Armed with a clear vision and a 78-page plan, Richard Williams is determined that his two daughters, Venus and Serena, write history. Trained on tennis courts in Compton, California, Richard is shaping the unwavering commitment and keen intuition of girls...
All in all, classic but inspiring, this sports biography coached by a Will Smith who climbs to the net (oscarized for the role) is an exciting success story through spectacular matches, which celebrates the (American) dream, perseverance, courage and family values.

If the difference « game » With regard to Blu-ray is far from overwhelming, this HDR10 UHD transfer nevertheless quickly takes over.
The image reveals a more assertive definition (see the details in the background), a more precise piqué (the facial hairiness, the different textures of the clothes), warm colors with more energetic hues (the blue sky, yellow balls, the green lawn, the red of some outfits), contrasts while holding better prepared (whites are less hard and blacks during the superb night sequences) and light sources, rarely demonstrative to a few projectors, more realistic (starting with the sunlight) and less rigid than in CSD.
SON – Whoever fails to plan, plans his failure
Focused on dialogues (always clear) but striking at full speed as soon as the occasion presents itself (especially during sporting meetings), the VO Dolby Atmos is a soundtrack « emotional » which uses careful spatialisation (the presence of the public in the heights, the directivity of the tennis balls), realistic atmospheres (applause, road traffic), striking effects (the impact of the balls on the snowshoes) and a score determined to be up to the extraordinary course of the Williams sisters.
Even if beating, the VF SD lacks power and natural (dubbing does not breathe the same authenticity) in front of its HD conister.
CONCLUSION – Game, Set and Match?
Brushing the portrait of « King Richard » and tracing at the same time the ascent of Venus and Serena, this biopic that touches the sensitive rope « smash » in 4K Ultra HD!
