WORK – He's not coming back to sort the lenses.
The tyrannical Lancelot-du-Lac and his Saxon mercenaries brought terror to the kingdom of Logres. The gods, insulted by this cruel dictatorship, cause the return of Arthur Pendragon and the advent of resistance. Will Arthur manage to unite the rebel clans, overthrow his rival, take over Kaamelott and restore peace on the island of Brittany?
If the staging lacks scope (we've got a lot of it) and it happens to get lost in a random montage (it's not wrong), Kaamelott take advantage of its large screen transposition to prolong the great adventure of Arthur, without removing the ingredients that made the salt of the series, with a real budget.
So in addition to a very worked artistic direction (the landscapes, decors and costumes send wood), the writing with the rope and the replicas always as tasty are of the journey, the references to pop culture rain, absurd humour (the part of robobrol will date) s
Was waiting worth it (10 years anyway)? Oh yes, especially that this first opus is very promising as to the conclusion (two suites are on the way) that is coming! The quest for the Grail continues...
IMAGE – Round table!
Turned in 70 mm before the master was finalized in 4K, this large French production technically did nothing to envy its American friends... All the more so when images from this UHD Dolby Vision transfer exceed those of its HD counterpart from A to Z.
With infinite cleanliness and impressive precision, they have much finer details (hairs, beard hair, vegetation, wood veins, stone wear), a much richer colorimetric palette (see burgundy bariolated outfits), even more frank contrasts (blacks enjoy a completely different density without the legibility of dark scenes being impacted) and much brighter light sources (the flames, the day, the lightnings of Excalibur).
SON – Broka. Proka. Dzjendin. And Troupaskaya.
If the dynamics would have earned more momentum and the level of recording is far too low for its own good (a bad consistency in this publisher), this soundtrack proposed in Dolby Atmos still remains very much worked and dedicated to its narrative.
The dialogues are of great clarity, all the speakers are used (sphere of height included with birds, the cracking of the hull of a boat or even debris) and the music, composed by Alexandre Astier himself and very inspired by the work of John Williams (Star Wars is never far away), gives space with a remarkable presence.
CONCLUSION – The King's return?
With a superior nobility, this 4K Ultra HD that puts us in the Kingdom of Logres to strengthen the Resistance is not a heretic to send to the stake!
