WORK – Smuggling the Nazi in turn
As he left at all speed to lend a hand in an unexpected battle in Metropolis, Flash went through time and was in the middle of World War II, where he met Wonder Woman and his ultra-secret team, the Justice Society of America.
Even if it only outlines its dramatic potential, this production of the CDAU which finds the (beautiful) graphic charter adopted since Superman: Man of tomorrow is an adventure in its own right (thank you the Multivers) where action is at hand and where the heroes of the past, immersed in the despair of the 1940s, will have to fight with the Allies to put an end to Nazi tyranny. From « old-school » modern to immediate efficiency.
IMAGE – Isn't my Panzer handsome?
Much stronger than in HD thanks to a higher encoding (compression artifacts are now limited to two planes where colour banding is visible), this UHD HDR10 transfer blends well with the animation style it accompanies.
The delineation of the lines is excellent, all the planes are remarkably clear and the gap on the side of the resolution is visible in the backgrounds. It is certainly not the day and night with the Blu-ray, but the images gain in three dimensions.
Especially since contrasts are better composed (cf. underwater planes with deeper blacks), the colorimetric palette « in deafness » (it is the Second World War after all) thicker (especially the primary in contemporary scenes) and the light sources otherwise bolder (explosions).
SON – Superheroes that make it go crazy!
Regularly explosive, this DTS-HD MA 5.1 soundtrack is one of the most impressive in the DC Animated Universe.
The dynamics fly as soon as there is action, all the channels engage in battle (and this is particularly evident with the super-speed of Flash), the pyrotechnic effects have a lot of impact, the score is sustained and the basses are not lacking.
However, budgetary limitations oblige, mixing is rarely overloaded with information of all kinds.
CONCLUSION – Ability to build an effective team
By sweeping away the weaknesses of the Blu-ray (compression), this 4K Ultra HD goes up to the front to satisfy fans (haired or not) of the superheroes of the DC team!
