WORK – No, but say, is it good or not?

The Justice League, recently joined by Lex Luthor, John Constantine and his companion Zatanna, learning that Darksid is about to invade the Earth, is preparing a preventive attack directly against Apokolips and his master, while the Teen Titans remain on Earth to protect her. Upon their arrival on Apokolips, the League members discovered that Darkseid was waiting for them and several of them were killed. In front of the real butcher shop that takes place and after Zatanna's brutal death, Constantine ran away...

After six years and fifteen feature films (before this one), the first era of the DC Animated Universe is coming to an end (before DC operates a reboot of its continuity) with this epic conclusion filled with bloody action scenes and tragic moments. And despite not always convincing animation, the generosity of this animated film (Maous issues and a cast of madness) is fully rewarding.

IMAGE – Everyone's beautiful, are you sure?

Scaled from a 2K native source, this disk has more to offer on the HDR/WCG side than on the definition side. In any case, the graphic style hardly lends itself to an avalanche of details.

More dynamic, the image benefits from brighter colors and reinforced contrasts, starting with blacks much deeper than in HD. As for the light sources (magic powers in mind), they enrich with a shine that the Blu-ray CSD cannot reach. And if the digital artifacts (from the colour banding) are not completely erased, they are much more discreet here.

SON – He who has ears to hear, hear!

With a score that accentuates the drama that is being played, this engaging soundtrack regularly uses surrounds (and it is rather rare for a DCAU production). Amp and intense, like the battles that rhythmize the story, it also has a lot to offer on the side of the LFE channel that will make trembling with a certain consistency your listening piece. Dialogues are always intelligible and the feeling of being at the heart of palpable action.

Even if combative, the little VF is clearly less muscular than its consœur.

CONCLUSION – Every good thing has an end...

Equipped with a solid A/V presentation, the League of Justiciers seems ready to face « the new god » Darkseid!

Justice League Dark: Apokolips War

Nyctalope like Riddick and with a very good hearing, I am ready to jump on physical editions and SVOD platforms. But if the quality isn't on the rendezvous, stop at the bite! #WeLovePhysicalMedia
