WORK – Shall we go back to the park?
With the acquisition of the InGen biotechnology company, young billionaire Simon Masrani made possible John Hammond's dream: the opening of a gigantic amusement park centered on the exhibition of living dinosaurs. In order to find a new attraction to captivate the thousands of visitors who land every day by boat from Costa Rica, a new species will be shaped by the hand of Man: the Indominus Rex...
This cinematic attraction that will delight fans of the first hour (winks and references to the first opus) as well as newcomers, is a good adventure entertainment that evokes the blockbusters of the 1990s. The staging has biting, the nostalgic scenario of Jurassic Park The action never weakens, humour and suspense have not been abandoned in front of the park's gates, dinosaurs have the fangs, heroes do not lack personality and the special effects are spectacular. A real resurrection!
IMAGE – No more teeth!
Un master UHD impeccable with silver rendering « cine approved » (it's nicely organic), solid definition, deliberately piqued a little soft, superb colors (many green), sharp contrasts and threatening blacks. And the improvements made by this 4K Ultra HD are clearly visible...
From the added resolution (see close-up and aerial views) to the more nuanced hues (greens are the most striking example), to the brighter whites (Claire Dearing's tailor), to the more corsed black levels and to the clearly more intensive light sources (light of the day, the lights of the lab, the reflections on the wet ground and the passing of the floor), this is far beyond what Blu-ray can achieve.
SON – The man whispering in the ear of the Raptors
If the adventurous score, the atmospheres (of jungle, laboratory and amusement park) searched, the thundering effects (the dinosaur cry) and the beautifully calibrated spatialization are still part of the part on the VO DTS:X, the bass to the tab (the steps of the Indominus Rex) and the dynamic always ready to fly away from the previous mixing DTS-HD MA 7.1 have been somewhat temperate.
In return, this 3D audio track gains a superior scene far from being anecdotal (advertising for visitors, helicopter blades, movements inside the gyrospheric sphere, roaring hybrids, attack of pterodactyls). So less titaniums (while keeping in mind that the soundtrack is not lacking in any depth) even if finally more inclined to plunge us into the heart of the action.
Even if it is so effective and sometimes more sinister than its sister, the Canadian FV cannot fight spatialization and scale.
CONCLUSION – The legacy of Jurassic Park
As the dream becomes reality, man's disproportionate ambition related to his weariness in the face of the unimaginable, will lead him to his loss when he creates a monster in the age of time... Even more dangerous in 4K Ultra HD!
