WORK – Operation Rescue
For three years now, dinosaurs have escaped their enclosures and destroyed the Jurassic World theme park and luxury complex. Isla Nublar was abandoned by humans while the surviving dinosaurs are delivered to themselves in the jungle. When the island's inactive volcano begins to roar, Owen and Claire organize to save the remaining dinosaurs from extinction...
If he has to struggle with the (heavy) specification of the franchise, a lazy scenario and axe-cut characters, this hybrid entertainment between spectacular catastrophe film and gothic horror remains no less the most surprising episode of the saga. Perfectly staged, endowed with a real personality and creating an authentic atmosphere of terror in its last straight line, this segment which leaves no moment of respite to the spectator finds this mixture of fear and wonder that had disappeared since Jurassic Park.
IMAGE – Change of scenery
Less demonstrative than that of his eldest, the beautiful photograph of this 5th opus is darker (cf. the last part in the Lockwood domain) and less fuzzy.
The highly controlled HDR increases the density of contrasts (the sensational refinement of blacks) and the intensity of light sources (reflections on steel and water surfaces, brightness around clouds, backlighting of computer screens), the WCG gives a boost to primary (including tree green and lava red) for even richer colours, and the increased resolution allows for finer details (the texture of the skin, clothing fabric).
The source is therefore high-end even if some signs of compression (from the colour banding during the underwater scene of opening and a bit of aliasing) come to tarnish (so little) the picture.
SON – It would be time to listen Professor Malcolm
Tunning, aggressive and ultra-immersive, the VO DTS:X fully exploits all the speakers to immerse us at the heart of the action.
The voices are always audible, the score is as well integrated as enveloping, the dynamics are devastating (volcanic eruption), the atmospheres as well as the effects invade fully the listening space (air scene including among others debris, movements and screams of dinosaurs, a thunderstorm), and the basses impose it badly.
Despite a little incarnated dubbing, the VF is also very good even if the VO wins by its power and spatialization.
CONCLUSION – Men's dusk?
Victims of the madness of men, for much more predatory than they are, dinosaurs will recover their freedom on the American continent after a forced stay, but of high standing in 4K Ultra HD, in an old mansion « haunted » Hey!
Nyctalope like Riddick and with a very good hearing, I am ready to jump on physical editions and SVOD platforms. But if the quality isn't on the rendezvous, stop at the bite! #WeLovePhysicalMedia
