WORK – Rescue into hostile land

The paleontologist Alan Grant, rescued from Jurassic Park, met a couple, Paul and Amanda Kirby, who offered to fund his research against an overflight of the island of Isla Sorna. Initially reluctant, Grant finally accepted and took the air with his young assistant, Billy Brennan. But the paleontologist soon discovers that the couple lied: the Kirbys intend to land on Sorna to search for Erik, their 12-year-old son who disappeared eight weeks earlier...

Despite the deficient characters (a terribly brief characterization) and the facilities you want (the raptor's phone), this third part is a B-series adventure to the old one that goes directly to the essential. The rhythm is extremely strong, fatally cinegenic attacks (the aviary sequence) and always effective staging (Joe Johnston is a good doer). Surprisingly short, this unpretentious entertainment is very entertaining.

IMAGE – Walk in the jungle

Not very alive for HDR (a few reflections of the sun near) and rather bland with regard to the colorimetric palette (even if more saturated and virtuating the green hues of Blu-ray), the image of this UHD transfer (not taken from a scan of the original negatives) does not shine either on the details side (some more precise than in HD but soft by nature and smoothed by a layer of DNR) and contrasts (darker here with low lights a bit stifled).

This is better than before, however, if only by the presence of a HEVC compression that solidifies the background and the fog-wrapped sequence. But it is obvious that the artistic wills of the Ops chef Shelly Johnson (a swampy approach according to his claims) greatly limit the visual prestances of this record.

SON – The phone rings

Neither as far off nor as expansive as the VO DTS:X of his elders, this mix (not signed by sound designer Gary Rydstrom) remains no less impressive during the many scenes of action with what is necessary immersion (the pterodactyls attack from the sky), impact (the crash of the plane) and bass (the roar of the Spinosaur). And then let's not forget the jungle atmospheres that are enveloping at will, even if less nuanced than in the past.

Much less extensive and dynamic, the VF SD ensures as a great at its modest level.

CONCLUSION – Do predators fit?

At his ease as soon as the creatures of the Jurassic join the guided hike of Professor Alan Grant, this unjustly squandered episode, which continues the journeys without interruption, increases in intensity on 4K support Ultra HD even if the places visited are more austere than before!

Jurassic Park III

Nyctalope like Riddick and with a very good hearing, I am ready to jump on physical editions and SVOD platforms. But if the quality isn't on the rendezvous, stop at the bite! #WeLovePhysicalMedia
