WORK – You shouldn't have raised him!
When a young woman starts to have worrying premonitions related to the Creeper legend, she becomes persuaded to be the target of this supernatural entity in search of blood.
After the TV movie at the discount that sniffed slibard, here's the fan movie snuffing all the rakes of modern horror! Wanting to renew the myth of Creeper, this slasher behind closed doors of a gloomy banality (while the horrific killer scarecrow until then enjoyed open action) managed above all to annihilate the ambiguous subtext of the saga.
And as if it weren't enough, shy murders, amateurist staging, cracked SFXs, lack of tension, strawberry casting, idiotic characters and clichés, messy meta-subtext and unsolved mysteries of a worn-out scenario to the rope, come to shame the first two opus. A new monstrously missed suite.
IMAGE – Tastelessness in Louisiana
Even if not visually attractive (a low-budget capture and a photograph to vomit), this never-realistic image can be seen « Beautified » by a very solid UHD Dolby Vision transfer (or HDR10+ depending on your equipment) (the light colour banding ns only belongs to Blu-ray).
Because in addition to better integrating the green background (always disgusting, be sure despite the combined contribution of the HDR and WCG), the clarity, the details (cosplay accessories, the skin of the Creeper), the colorimetric palette (richly saturated), the contrasts (to the deep blacks during the night scenes) and the lighting (at first radiating before re-integration in the 3rd act) are much more demonstrative than in 1080p SDR.
SON – The devil's song is no longer scary
While the use of surrounds is abundant (the HorrorHound Film Festival activity, the movement of Creeper in the abandoned house) and the diffusion of the engaging score, this multichannel soundtrack with clear voices would have deserved a more striking dynamic and bass (yet) to accentuate the « Creeping » Gore effects.
Despite the absence of a 3D mixing, activation of a virtualization DSP makes it possible to recover presence in the heights (floor cracks, crows).
CONCLUSION – Aborted Renaissance?
After 23 years of a long nap, the immortal and nightmare Creeper has a hell of a slab. Unfortunately for him, despite the quality of the service (the technical services of the present 4K Ultra HD are at the rendezvous), it is not a gourmet cuisine that awaits but a drink with damaged dishes!
