In a Violent Nature sticks to the Basques of a masked killer from end to end of a nomadic film flirting between contemplative cinema and murder « Gore-guignolesques ». Curious marriage of genres, In a Violent Nature Turns back all codes meticulously. Where the victims are usually followed, the executioner is now being held. Where editing tended to become epileptic to maintain palpable tension, this film turned to the most complete contemplative. A confusing movie that like Terrifiing, offers ever more playful gore scenes and completely breaking tone in relation to the victims' experiences. An unclassifiable and aesthetically worked object, which manages never to annoy despite a rather hovering rhythm. Ready, go, hike!

Chris Nash , director
Originally from Ontario, Chris Nash began his film marathon by imposing a curious diet: seven films for seven days for seven dollars, to which he added the daily viewing of the new end-of-night movies broadcast on Canadian television CBC. In 2014, his short film Z is for Zygote is chosen to close the horror anthology The ABCs of Death 2. In a Violent Nature is his first feature film as cruel as it is playful.

Excellent movie! I confess that this is my horrific slam from the beginning of the year. Choice of format, no music, raw, radical. The heavy sound of the killer's steps, his imposing tile, his fingers swollen and without nails, the mask of vintage firefighters, scenes of incredible cruelty (wood cracking machine)... Gérardmer's prize amply deserved.
