WORK – A new chapter opens... 40 years later!

Laurie Strode is back for a final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked character who haunted her since she barely escaped her deadly madness on Halloween night 40 years earlier.

Honouring the slashers of Dantan, this direct follow-up to the cult work of John Carpenter (we erase everything and start over again) is a series B of brutal and bloody horror to vigorous staging and strong female characters (Laurie Strode became Sarah Connor of Haddonfield), which contains some of the most beautiful murders of the saga and « bone » Refresh the long-awaited face-to-face when the killer becomes prey to the ex-victim. And a successful comeback for Michael Myers!

IMAGE – The nightmare continues...

Even if this is not really visible (a harmonious grain added in post-prod), this 11th Halloween is the first film of the franchise not to have been filmed on film. Once this little girl « disappointment » swallowed, it must be admitted that the images delivered by this UHD HDR transfer are very beautiful; Michael Simmonds' old-fashioned photograph (of orange hues) is certainly not foreign.

The definition is sharper, the sharper than in HD even in the dark (see details in the darkest corners), the more natural colors (the carnation of faces, pumpkins), the contrasts more adapted to the night events (the readability of night scenes finds it to be bigger) and the brighter light sources (the candlelights of Jack-o-lantern, the gyrophars of police vehicles, the projectors of Laurie Strode's house).

SON – John Carpenter is back!

Surprisingly sober and therefore rather distant from free effects and other dynamics « To burst » modern horror films, this DTS:X mix (to the discreet aerial scene) that highlights the dialogues and the iconic score of the saga, rather plays with silences « Powered » while distilled many sound ambiences (people in the street, crickets) and some well-sung gimmicks (the sound of blades and breaths). And if the result lacks a bit of energy and lows (especially during shots), the pressure is particularly present.

Even if recorded at a higher level, the VF 5.1 proves to be more limited with a retracted front opening and less pronounced musical engagement.

CONCLUSION – The wedding of Emerald is celebrated!

Caramels, sweets and chocolates, « sweets » abound in this opus faithful to the spirit of the original. Fans will be able to enjoy themselves in front of this 4K Ultra HD from which it is difficult to escape... It must also be said that he is not here to play hide-and-seek!

Halloween (2018)

Nyctalope like Riddick and with a very good hearing, I am ready to jump on physical editions and SVOD platforms. But if the quality isn't on the rendezvous, stop at the bite! #WeLovePhysicalMedia
