WORK – When the fairy tale turns into a nightmare

A long time ago, in a distant campaign similar to fairy tales, a young girl led her little brother into a dark wood in a desperate quest for food and work. Both are then confronted with a terrible evil presence.

Disadvised from children, this very ambitious reinterpretation of the famous tale, which wonders about the transition to adulthood and questions the place of women in society, is an awakened nightmare « out of time » the insidious atmosphere and striking imagery. Above all coming horrific, this fantastic strange and elegant work finds its own way in the middle of the forest!

IMAGE – The triangular house opens its doors

Very attractive for the eye, photography (with a splendid plastic coldness) is magnified by this UHD HDR10+ transfer.

Solid and adorned with a beautiful natural texture, the image offers much more refined details than in HD, less reserved colours (when there are) (the bright malady yellows), more direct contrasts (more immaculate whites and more sinister blacks) and brighter lighting (see the magisterial use of light).

SON – Don't talk to wolves!

Focused mainly on dialogues and rhythmized by an electro-obtrusive score, the soundtrack uses subtly from the rear scene to make the environments live with a lot of realism.

CONCLUSION – Eyes bigger than belly?

Even more tasty on 4K Ultra HD support, this beautifully gloomy feast makes us enjoy a rereading (modern and malignant) of the Grimm brothers' tale by the prism of femininity!

Nyctalope like Riddick and with a very good hearing, I am ready to jump on physical editions and SVOD platforms. But if the quality isn't on the rendezvous, stop at the bite! #WeLovePhysicalMedia
