WORK – In the skin of a serial killer
Millie Kessler, a 17-year-old girl, busy doing good in her very elitist high school, Blissfield High, becomes the new target of the Boucher, a notorious serial killer. His year of Terminale will then become the youngest of his worries. When, under the effect of the old Butcher's dagger, they wake up in the body of the other, Millie only 24 hours to find her body so as not to stay stuck for the rest of her days in the skin of a serial killer about fifty years old. Delicate task since it now looks like a psychopath ice cabinet, wanted by the police and targeted by a local manhunt... while the butcher, in the girl's skin, is determined to celebrate a return to a band in a bloodbath.
Between horror and comedy, Freaky is a crazy slasher in mode « body swap » who amuses to deconstruct the stereotypes of the genres he crosses with a rejoicing bad spirit. The gore killings are inventive, the casting visibly takes its foot and it does not bother for a second. As funny as bloody!
IMAGE – Body change
Despite a fairly widespread video noise, not necessarily due to compression, this overall bright HD transfer remains good bill.
The definition is solid, the sharp bite (make-up, injuries), the punchy colors very saturated (the pupils' wardrobe, the burst of blood), the balanced contrasts and the well deep blacks.
SON – One « scream queen » truly unique
Enveloping, dynamic and rich in strong sensations, the VO proposed in DTS-HD MA 5.1 does not step back in front of anything to bring the wolf into the sheepfold!
The soundtrack really does not lack impact (cf. « damage » effects such as ambiences (the « life » In the halls of the school) sound everywhere, the music evocator benefits from a diabolical stage presence and the bass, regularly feverish, roar as it should.
The VF encoded in DTS 5.1 is, in the end, more fearful than its sister, and far from being so striking.
CONCLUSION – Do we reverse the roles?
A breath of fresh air in its field, this horrific-comic ride is the star of Blu-ray high school!
