WORK – A fatal investigation!
Mortis and Bigelow, two Los Angeles detectives, are chasing gangsters who have committed several robberies. They surprise them in the midst of a jewelery attack and manage, not without harm, to shoot them down. The medical examiner horrifiedly notes that the autopsied bodies have already died eight days before...
While it is necessary to go beyond his telefilm staging and his bald humour to appreciate him a minimum, this horrific buddy movie that smells good in the 80s is a series B of very stupid exploitation that applies especially for its outrancial sequences (the collective resurrection in the Chinese caterer) where the special effects craspecs express fully.
IMAGE – Decomposing?
Coming from a 4K scan of the original 35 mm negatives, this UHD HDR10 transfer resurrects the source elements as never before to a few spots.
The silver grain is organic as desired, the details are solid all along (the « delicious » Make-up are unreservedly displayed, costumes display all their fibers), colours are sipped with life (reds are bloodier, green has a better look and the blue of the sky takes a good time), contrasts benefit from certain optimization (blacks are deeper and whites are clearer) and light sources reach a greater exuberance (California sun, lightnings of the machine to raise the dead).
SON – How about some sauce?
Engaging and without signs of old age (no breath or crack), this losless 2.0 soundtrack comfortably balanced and surprisingly wide gives life to the dialogues (jokes fuse), to the dynamic (fires, scientific experiments) and to the score (the synths of Ernest Troost) which were until then relatively flat.
CONCLUSION – Dying is only a formality
The cold room's rise, this suspended death that has the right to a second life in 4K Ultra HD will be able to find those responsible for its sad condition!

1st film by Mark Golblatt, director of the best films of the 80s/90s (TERMINATOR 1 & 2, TRUE LIES, RAMBO 2, CABAL, STARSHIP TROOPERS among more than 30 films !), FLIC OR ZOMBIA is a Proust Madeleine who rocked the dear blonde heads (of which I am a part) at the time of late the 5, small budget compensated by a good communicative mood, of the barred ideas (the scene of the Chinese restaurant) and an unlikely casting including the great Vincent Price in one of his last roles.
I only discovered it in 4K Ultra HD, not the same feeling at the time. 🙁
Flic or Zombie, it's from the B series with a nanar trend that smells good the 80s from beginning to end, a bigdy zombie movie of the most fun that only fishes by its last half hour a little below. Perfect for a party with friends, pizza, and beers!
