WORK – Cinema invites to Downton
1928. While Lady Violet comes to inherit a villa located in the south of France and enjoins her family members to go to the French Riviera in search of her mysterious past, a Hollywood director wants to turn the home into a cinema set...
More rhythmic and better screenplayed (even if dramaturgy remains brief) than the previous opus, this truly seductive suite does not commit any lack of taste and should delight fans of the British series like the neophytes (to whom I would advise besides to watch the first film adaptation). The characters are delectable, the decorations licked, the tasty situations, the refined costumes and the biting replicas. In short, a small madeleine from Proust with priceless over-yearly charm.
IMAGE – When modernity meets chic
A goldsmith's piece, that's what this UHD Dolby Vision transfer of great luxury is. Because vis-à-vis the absolutely superb Blu-ray, the image is even more impressive here (captation 6K and DI 4K)!
The (rare) video noise is no longer a bad distraction, the definition becomes sharper (it's obvious in the background), the details offer increased complexity (see close-ups), the WCG enhances the primary (starting with natural greens and blues) and better delimits the other shades (the interior decoration), the management of contrasts is more open (pure whites and denser blacks) and the delicate lighting (except the sun of the Midi de la France) proves to be more attractive thanks to the HDR.
SON – From mute to speaking
Sophisticated and pleasant, this VO Dolby Atmos of discreet nature (soft bass, wise surround activity and reserved height effects) promotes the realistic integration of its felted (well spatialized) atmospheres and its dialogues (with great clarity). Surprise, the musical score comes to play the « Troubleshooting » with amazing dynamics and a real sound enlargement.
Very close acoustically speaking, the VF(Q) cannot nevertheless fight against the charm of English accents.
CONCLUSION – Like old times?
Elegantly, the Crawleys welcome us (again) in their luxurious home with an aristo-british stature all the more amenable in 4K Ultra HD!
