WORK - Vengeance at the right price

Despite a contemporary hijacking of the codes of masculinity and actors at ease in the costume (Christoph Waltz, Willem DafoeandRachel Brosnahan), this clean western under the influence ofSergio Leoneis a return to the Far West far too paternal forWalter Hill. For preferring the (long) conversations in camera to the action in large spaces, this ode to insubmission rid of its extras (the places are sadly empty) is only a small series B without the-sou, whose Mollassonne staging cannot dynamit its (too) traditional approach of the genre.

Apart from a somewhat sluggish compression (minim traces of color banding on the walls immersed in the darkness), this UHD HDR10 canicule transfer (the sun tap) goes further than its HD counterpart to raise the sepia (rather ugly by the way) photograph of the work.
The definition approaches perfection (everything is clear all the time), the wide frame is full of even more details (a surgical precision that nothing alters), the colorimetric palette tending towards the golden brown monochrome is more nuanced (clear lands), the rate of contrasts that has been consolidated remains a never-defied richness (jais blacks and blinding whites) and the light sources shine with a whole other brightness.
SON - The word is gold
No barouf here and very few whistle balls, but an acoustic envelope that plays the map of delicate atmospheres on all the channels allocated. The dialogues are firmly planted on the central enclosure, the dynamics await the rare armed altercations to manifest themselves, the immersive surrounds (the surrounding elements), the picturesque music sounds as it should and the mixing is in line with the felted character of the narrative.
CONCLUSION - And for a few more dollars
Valuing more than a kopeck thanks to a 4K Ultra HD ready to face the American West (the A/V performances have under the stetson), this neo-classical western nick still shoots far enough from the target!
