WORK – The last cowboy ride
A former rodeo star, now a horse breeder, accepts the mission entrusted to her by one of her former bosses: to go to Mexico to bring back her young son, who lives with her alcoholic mother.
Tender and touching, this sentimental road-movie (the old solitaire wolf no longer needs to draw the violence) which looks like a film-testament speaks of redemption and transmission with a disarraying sweetness. And if it's a minor Eastwood (his 39th realization though!), this Mexican ride that can accuse the weight of years still remains a precious work where good feelings accompany casual adventures.
IMAGE – On the roads of Mexico
Coming from a 2K DI, this immaculate UHD HDR10 transfer goes surprisingly further than its HD counterpart.
The arid landscapes of New Mexico are much more detailed, the ochre tones of photography are subtly reinforced (we gain in heat), the weakly lit sequences benefit from a much better readability (the little chapel at night) and the sunny canyons enjoy a higher brightness.
SON – The song of the cock
Discreet but no less active when the weather in which action enters the stage, this soundtrack that benefits from a solid score signed Mark Mancina shows a multichannel activity (some atmospheric atmospheres) in correlation with its purpose... That is to say sober since it is conversations, sometimes at the corner of the fire, that guide the narrative.
Less open at the back but with good dubbing, the VFF does not detract frankly.
CONCLUSION – Should we go upstairs?
Far from being in small shape, this 4K Ultra HD in search of redemption invites us to an unexpected journey (adapted from a novel by N. Richard Nash) alongside a Clint at dusk!
Nyctalope like Riddick and with a very good hearing, I am ready to jump on physical editions and SVOD platforms. But if the quality isn't on the rendezvous, stop at the bite! #WeLovePhysicalMedia
