WORK – Barter Murders

Christie Parson is haunted by the death of her father, drowned in a pool. She is certain that it was a murder, unlike her mother, who believes in a mere accident. Soon, she realizes that someone is watching her night and day, a disturbing rostrum dressed in a black cape, which seems related to the local morgue, itself a strange occult ceremony...

First mysterious before giving in to many facilities, this 80s horrific coil is a rudimentary slasher with a paranormal touchet. True marked and insufficiently rhythmic, he still lets himself follow without displeasure thanks to a psycho killer « curious », a solid distribution (the late Bill Paxton) and a grand guignolesque finale.

IMAGE – Visit of the morgue

If it can happen to the details (flatters under the light) of fluctuating, to the silver texture of thickening (from tinglings during poorly lit passages) and to the dusts of crossing the door (cf. the optically printed generic), we are indeed in the presence of a real HD transfer where the stability of the copy, the clarity of the images, the health of the contrasts and the expressivity of the colors (the stunned outfits of the customers of the rink, the lipstick) participate in the (re)discovery of this forgotten bisserie.

SON – Listening to madness

Two monophonic tracks that highlight John Cacavos' score and Mary Beth McDonough's strident screams. On the other hand, vintage or not, this soundtrack did not diverge from a certain breath.

To choose, however, prefer the most harmonious VO to the overly aggressive VF, especially since the first one does not have to suffer from distortions.

CONCLUSION – A slasher among so many others...

Release at the height of the apogee of the genre (15 other slashers broke into the American theatres in 1983), Death Ceremony gradually lost in the mass. Today, thanks to the publisher Rimini Éditions, fans of horror films from the 80s will be able to find him in a superb three-part digipack in the colors of the anxiety collection.

Death Ceremony

Nyctalope like Riddick and with a very good hearing, I am ready to jump on physical editions and SVOD platforms. But if the quality isn't on the rendezvous, stop at the bite! #WeLovePhysicalMedia
