WORK – The cursed city of Stephen King
A strange discovery in Castle Rock Penitentiary brings criminal attorney Henry Deaver back to his hometown, forcing him to face the demons of his past.
Anchored in Stephen King's universe (references to his novels abound), this intriguing first season of Castle Rock is carefully staged (the ambiance is morbid at will), cleverly holes (she imagines a drawer plot full of mysteries) and perfectly interpreted (the casting gives life to excavated characters). Come visit Castle Rock, an imaginary little town created by the undisputed master of horrific literature!
IMAGE – The Form of Evil
A beautiful upgrade that adds a seal to the fantasy visual aesthetics of the work.
The unsaturated colours of the photograph are more nuanced (cold shades and reds), the threatening contrasts have been reinforced (for better visibility of many dark planes), the discreet light sources are displayed with more intensity (light of the day, interior lighting), the details have gained in precision (faces, elements of the frame) and the clearly enhanced resolution draws the better the environments.
But while compression is much better than HD, there are still a few tinglings in the underlighted areas.
SOUND – Mystery Mystery
Solid and atmospheric, this DTS-HD MA 5.1 soundtrack with clear dialogues, worrying score and active rear scene (especially when characters have visions or hear voices), does not lack impact (large dynamic and deep bass range) or mysterious atmospheres (which crawl from one speaker to another with agility).
CONCLUSION – There's nothing left, what a playground!
Cancelled after only two seasons, this series based on Stephen King's fictional city would have deserved to be saved. It doesn't stop that this enigmatic season 1, very welcoming on 4K Ultra HD support, will delight fans of the master of the fantastic. Would this be the right time to settle in?
