WORK – Patriarchate, a religion of inversion
In the American West, at the end of the 19th century, Liz, a young woman about twenty years old, led a peaceful life with her family. But his life will change the day when a sinister preacher visits them. Liz will have to run away from this man who has been tracking her since childhood...
Between desperate western twilight and the evilly suffocating horrific tale, this magnificently esthetized feminist and visceral cross path, where the falsely fragile Dakota Fanning faces the truly tetanizing Guy Pearce, is a powerful and trying drama.
IMAGE – The West really wild
Warmer and better defined, rough images from this UHD HDR10 transfer (free of compressive traces) make the vast landscapes more threatening thanks to the careful management of HDR technology (DSM 4K remastered with the EclairColor process).
Enjoying much darker blacks than before (they were really not enough on the Blu-ray), the cold, raw and solemn photography of the work is magnified by a stunning definition, an amazing pique (the master HD is soft in comparison), glowing natural colors (the depth and saturation of the shades have been strengthened) and very regularly striking light sources (the glow of candles, the reflections caused by the rain, the flamboyance of flames, the diurnal exteriors).
SON – Beware of false prophets
Not spectacular but easily rich in environmental atmospheres and tense basses, the very convincing VO encoded in DTS-HD MA 5.1 shows obvious clarity, unexpected dynamics and alarming elegiac tablecloths (which it owes to Junkie XL) particularly broad.
CONCLUSION – Apocalypse, exodus, genesis and punishment
Even more visceral in 4K Ultra HD, this dreadful committed western will twist your guts like never before!
