WORK – Evil Superman

Tori Breyer lost all hope of becoming a mother one day, when a mysterious baby comes into her life. Little Brandon is all she and her husband, Kyle, have always dreamed of: he is a little boy awake, gifted and curious about everything. But as puberty approaches, something as powerful as sinister manifests itself in him. Tori soon feeds terrible doubts about her son. From now on, Brandon acts more than to satisfy his terrible needs, and even his loved ones are in grave danger as the miraculous child turns into a dreadful predator that unleashes itself on their little town without history...

Even though he never goes further than his wonderful concept (and if Superman had chosen the dark side?), the fault of a lazy script (the strings are predictable and the characters barely sketched), Brightburn – The child of evil is a cruel and nihilistic super-villain film where shock scenes abound. In short, a crisis of puberty playfully gore and diabolically unusual.

IMAGE – A Child Falling From Heaven

More accurate than in HD (close-ups and environments) even though still slightly softened, digital images (often nocturnal) from this horrific B series mainly benefit from the subtlety of the WCG and the power of the HDR.

The colours are better saturated with more nuanced tones of flesh and some explosive primaries (cf. bright reds), contrasts are markedly improved with purer whites and even more impressive blacks, and the light sources (especially daylight) are exposed with a shine that strikes the retina.

SON – The whistles of fear

As silent (dialogued passages) as noisy (the appearance of powers and multiple killings), this Dolby Atmos mixing ensures the show.

Provided with an enveloping sound scene and a dynamic in the box, it sweeps the speakers with immersive atmospheric atmospheres and effects of painful violence perfectly spatialized, and shakes badly with a LFE channel (at sometimes very low frequencies) always ready to defuse.

Despite the loss of the vertical plane (very active during the climax where the apocalypse's ado sniffs the air with its super-speed), the VF is no less demonic.

CONCLUSION – Bad education?

If you're trying to intervene to stop this sadistic kid room, get the 4K Ultra HD... The best technology possible to get a chance out without too many bobos!

Brightburn - The Child of Evil

Nyctalope like Riddick and with a very good hearing, I am ready to jump on physical editions and SVOD platforms. But if the quality isn't on the rendezvous, stop at the bite! #WeLovePhysicalMedia
