WORK – Postcards of Death
A New York detective is investigating a series of horrific murders involving European couples. The murderer randomly sends postcards to local journalists, each announcing the next crime.
Classic but effective, this black polar adapted from the homonymous suspense novel of the American James Patterson respects to the letter the codes of the genre. The staging is square, the survey captivates (there are plenty of twists) and the actors are in the tone. Throughout Europe, will Detective Jacob Kanon find the answers he needs to solve his daughter's murder?

Very cinematic in its rendering, silver capture obliges, the image is gratified by a solid HD transfer even if it can happen to compression to weaken in places (especially in low light).
The definition is guaranteed, the frame is full of details (the broad planes are superb), the slightly reduced colors are in line with the cold atmosphere that emerges and the contrasts are perfectly controlled.
SON – Abyssus Abyssum Invocat
Focused on dialogues (always clear) but not devoid of multichannel atmospheres (sometimes even crowded at the back), this DTS-HD MA 5.1 mix more subtle than it seems at first glance to use spatialisation adapted to the places visited (see echoes during snowy climax). And if the LFE channel turns out to be rather discreet, it is not the case of the score that can be heard.
CONCLUSION – Murder as a work of art
Knowers or not of the works mentioned, you will be able « to assess » The killer's macabre art thanks to this technically seasoned Blu-ray!
