WORK – In search of truth
What happened on board the Dubai-Paris flight before its crash in the Alpine massif? A technician at the BEA, the authority responsible for safety investigations in civil aviation, Mathieu Vasseur is propelled into chief investigator on an unprecedented aviation disaster. Flight error? Technical failure? Terrorist act? The careful analysis of black boxes will push Mathieu to secretly conduct his own investigation...
High-flying with well-oiled mechanics, this paranoid thriller to sophisticated staging and haletante investigation (where each listen turns into a new hypothesis) is carried by a completely inhabited Pierre Niney. Tended and sensory, this quest for truth faced with false captive leads from end to end!
IMAGE – At the heart of the cockpit
Clinic and without apparent defects (the copy is immaculate), this UHD HDR10 transfer of surgical precision restores with the utmost care beautiful images captured in digital.
With a constant sharpness, it refines the textures of its HD counterpart (the offices of the BEA, the frame of Pierre Niney's glasses, the furniture of Victor Pollock's home, the interior of the vehicles), purifies the cold hues of photography (the green drifts of the Blu-ray disappeared in the crash) while strengthening the primaries (the blues of the sky), accentuates the value of contrasts (blacks gain in depth and whites in radiance) and greatly expands the radiation of light sources (such as the control screens and ceiling caps).
SON – Knowing how to direct your listening
Taking advantage of the auditory acuity of its chief investigator, this formidable Dolby Atmos track with ultra-worked sound design (which is a bit the heart of the plot) is immersive as possible.
The sound details abound from all sides (brouhahas, acoustic nuisances, bits of dialogues), the dynamics fly away several times, the atmospheres are incredible realism (activity in the airline, the presence of journalists at the press conference), the score embarks with magnitude, the « silences » subjectives leave speechless (cf. Mathieu Vasseur's noise filters) and the LFE channel allows the attack of memorable infrabasses (in particular at the very beginning).
Too localised at the back in comparison, the DTS-HD MA 5.1 proposal is not equipped with the bubble effect of its 3D consœur. Spaceization is not as airy, transitions from one speaker to another are less natural and the aerial scene is absent (even though a large part of the mixing lies in the sounds heard by the helmet).
CONCLUSION – Doubts go down!
Shaken by turbulence of an investigation « disorder » where the plot is hovering, this 4K Ultra HD who knows how to listen considers his own skills as an asset!
