This cult work by Andrew Niccol is a great anticipatory film with a strong message. Does our genetic heritage have to determine our entire life, or can we succeed by giving the means? That's the big question we're exploring. Welcome to Gattaca through an original and perfectly tied scenario built like a gallant thriller.

With its retro-futuristic atmosphere inspired by the 1950s and its clinical settings where everything is clean and aseptic, Andrew Niccol makes us discover a world where the obsession of the perfect is a way of life. The main actors, all beautiful, bring all the necessary credibility to this universe where discrimination is queen. Concrete scenario, solid interpretations and atypical universe make it one of the highlights of the science fiction film!

Drawn from a new 4K scan of 35 mm negatives, the images of this UHD HDR10 transfer are delicately controlled without being demonstrative yet (this is not the subject).

The granular structure is finer than in the past, the input in definition (variable per moment, low budget required) is visible throughout, details gain in sharpness (faces, background), colorimetric palette with coldness « velvety » filtered abounds with unprecedented nuances (starting with ochre tones) and gives meaning to the carnation, contrasts are much more advantageous (blading whites and rich blacks) and light sources regain vitality (artificial lighting from Gattaca, restaurant and concert hall).

SON – At the origin of the hearing there is the double propeller!

All in nuances and with rare precision, this soundtrack Dolby Atmos at the sobriety welcome combines perfectly with the clean atmosphere that it sounds like!

More palpable than on the small VF SD, spatialization accurately distributed the atmospheres (talking in the corridors, the resonance of the steps, the noise of the keyboards, the « life » in the streets), the effects (see the fall of the nail during the generic opening) and the soft partition « sidereal » Michael Nyman. Even if they only activate occasionally, the dynamics (many less in Molière's language) as the bass do frankly when the need makes it felt (the passage on the highway for the first and the takeoff of the rockets for the second). Finally, the surrounding canals and the air scene are there in support.

Remastered in 4K and Dolby Atmos on a quality disc, this exceptional work is now part of the elite!
