Beautiful (2021), U are not alone!

A huge upgrade whose increased compression strength (the big weak spot of Blu-ray) and the subtle application of the HDR process (presented in Dolby Vision) sublimate the infinite beauty of this digital animation (a learned combination of 2D and 3D elements) natively 2K.

The definition increases in sharpness (the background is cleaner) and precision (the lines are better defined), the colorimetric palette with more or less bright hues (depending on the world in which the action takes place) perfects its richness (the wooded hills in real life) and its vibrance (the primary ones in U), the contrasts which show a better address controls the content of the blacks (profound to wish in the castle of the Beast) and whites (well bright on the student shirts), and the light sources display with a tenfold shine (the rays of the sun, the beam) « revealing », virtual lighting).

Still it is that there is still a little color banding even if (very) away from the invasion of which the HD transfer is victim, already proven that it is by the consequent loss of many details during the most loaded plans. It is also in those moments that the HEVC makes all the difference.

While music is obviously the star of the show, this 3D soundtrack (in VO) does not come to sacralize it and prefers that each component of the mixing work in concert in a prodigiously spatialized acoustic space making full use of all available channels.

Engaging around (the players' movements, the interventions of « Justiciers ») and aerial (the voices of the avatars, the opening of the dome, the projections of sparks, etc.) is an obvious one when Beautiful flies into the virtual world of U, between whispers and roarings the dynamic range is enormously extended, the magnificent songs composed by Ludvig Forssell and Yûta Bandoh sounds wonderfully good and the bass, very deep, accentuate the robustness of the whole (starting with the score and the confrontations).

Proposed in DTS-HD MA 7.1, the VF performed by singer Louane really does not demerit despite a smaller scale and loss of the aerial stratum (partly recoverable by activating a DSP virtualization).
