More psychoanalytic than judicial, this film of trial in the chiseled scenario dissects the disorder of a (marital) life under the blind gaze of justice (penal). And worn by the prodigious German actress Sandra Hüller, it is a great portrait of woman accused that brush Justine Triet in its 4th long very precisely rewarded by the Palm gold. So, is it an accident, suicide or murder?

IMAGE - The shadow of doubt
Resulting from a digital capture that the addition in post-production of a light grain is approaching the 35 mm rendering (the director's initial wish that she was unfortunately able to implement), this solid HD transfer to the light images shows a precise definition (see background), well-tipped details (faces, costumes, decors), a neat colorimetric palette with naturalistic calibration and harmonious contrasts to intense blacks. Nevertheless, it would seem that reality can be associated with faffabulation...
SON - Just the truth?
While the dialogues (a source of potential misunderstandings when three languages coexist), perfectly articulated in French (a quality that is rare these days), are restored with as much clarity as in balance, the famous sounds of Albeniz (the musical storm) Asturias) and Chopin (Prelude op.28 n°4 in mi minor), in contrast to the drums of 50 Cent (the instrumental recovery of the tube I.M.P.), which occupy an equally important place within the plot, are provided with an excellent dynamic.
Spatialisation, at all realistic points, delivers enveloping ambiances (notably in front of the sitting court) even though the essential of acoustic narration remains frontal and the LFE channel, which is efficient but unsolicited in view of the subject, evokes its presence in certain key passages (such as when the spouse starts music in the attic).
CONCLUSION - Victim or murder?
Since the true and the false intertwine without it being possible to distinguish them, this ambiguous judicial drama arising from a hint of thriller offers the services of a Blu-ray who is a seasoned audiovisual law so that the spectators, despite the uncertainty, can better weigh the arguments (in favor and against) before deciding. Justice be done!
