WORK – One night a year, the crime is legal
In an America affected by crime and overcrowded prisons, the government decided to allow all kinds of criminal activity once a year. In these 12 hours, the police no longer exist and hospitals can no longer help citizens. A family that does not want to participate in this violence chain remains locked up at home, until a man comes to ask for help...
This thriller of anticipation with a certain political and social burden (the contemporary American society takes it for its rank), is a home invasion of a great tension with a corrosive and reflexive scenario, a fast pace, effective graphic violence and inhabited actors. Scotching!
IMAGE – Barricade yourself!
Although the differences are still small in comparison with the very good Blu-ray, this UHD HDR10 transfer still improves the rendering of the photograph... Immersed 90% in the dark!
The small declines in definition are no longer visible, the planes are slightly sharper (see the background elements), the piqué remains chiseled (excluding video protection) but becomes more precise when it is dark (especially on faces and clothes), the colorimetric palette gives a little more life to the primary (blood) and the carnation, the contrasts show a better homogeneity in low light (black ink better cut) and the light sources use a more striking radiance (light lamps).

Enveloping and striking soundtracks (the sound of the shots is overwhelming) where the enormous dynamic, the thoroughness of spatialisation (many off-screen effects), the richness of the surrounds (the presence of the group of students) and the power of the bass (the LFE channel gives a real punch!) are immersive to the possible.
A little less impressive but valiant as far as possible, however, the VF loses the use of the height channels which are regularly relevant (such as the activation of the safety system and the movement on the floor).
CONCLUSION – Will you survive the Purge?
If in American Nightmare all criminal activities, including murders, are legalized once a year for 12 hours, the present 4K Ultra HD can be viewed safely in the real world!. Even if he doesn't dig the gap with his HD counterpart who remains well armed to defend himself.
