WORK – The beginning of an experiment...
Behind each tradition is a revolution. This year, at Independence Day, discover how the 12 hours of annual anarchy were born.
Even more virulently describing the economic and racial injustices, this 4th opus willingly anarchist is a particularly rhythmic and bourrine night trip. Ingenious from time to time but allowing herself to go to too many clichés, she feels above all the warming since the same formula seems to be able to extend indefinitely. Behind the violence, the weariness points!
IMAGE – Day 1
As the film takes place mainly at night in low-light environments, this UHD transfer differs from its HD counterpart by a more precise management of blacks, brighter lights and more discreet noise (but still present). As a result, dark scenes benefit from increased depth thanks to better cutting of frame elements.
For the rest, the images are a sharper with a slight increase in detail, and the deliberately less loud colorimetric palette gives back warmth to the photograph.
SON – Kill as many as you can!
As aggressive as some participants in this first Purge, the VO DTS:X is immersive and terribly energetic.
The dynamic range is very important, the spatialization is extremely generous with atmospheres and noises diffused from all sides (the surround and aerial channels -cf. the siren which announces the beginning and the end of the Purge- fully participate in the « party »), the score that sometimes floats in the air is faithfully reproduced, the basses are firmly carpented and the dialogues are always clear.
Much less tense and more flat, the VF is not the weight.
CONCLUSION – Freeing yourself from violence
Between lively catharsis and societal study, the series continues to tell us more about its origins. But be careful, walking through the streets during this first Purge is at your risk... Even more in 4K Ultra HD where danger is more palpable than ever!
