WORK – Sewer teeth
A giant crocodile grows in the Chicago sewers feeding on laboratory waste. He decides one day to go back to the surface...
During reptilian Teeth of the sea, this B series that fits perfectly on its four legs (scaly) is an excellent alternative to the classic of Steven Spielberg. The actors have charisma, the scenario made in efficiency, the visual effects are amazing (and this is still true today), the tension settles in haste and the carnage scenes like the bleeding meat. For lovers of the genre, this animal attack is a sure value.
IMAGE – 50 feet below the city
Simply fantastic, with rare dirt near, this UHD HDR10 transfer (the announced Dolby Vision encoding will remain the prerogative of Shout Factory) from a 4K scan of the original negative does not have crocodile skin!
The fine film texture is in no way rough, the details explore the smallest corners of the frame (faces, clothes, scales and decorations are superb), the colorimetric palette sometimes fresh (wet sewers) sometimes warm (the summer outdoors) is brighter than ever (green, blue and red shades are full of life), and the contrasts that have been adjusted allow a better delimitation between the ambient darkness (blacks are abyssal) and the different light sources (pocket lamps, daylight and gyrophares are bright).
⚠️ Following an authoring problem, the Dolby Vision overlay (present on the disc) is not read.
SON – Chew words with big teeth
Due to its monophonic nature (from the DTS-HD MA 2.0 Mono on the American edition against two tracks DTS-HD MA 1.0 from here), this limited soundtrack where the effects lack robustness (absence of the LFE channel obliges) sounds very well.
The sound scene is full, the dialogues are firmly planted (even if the dubbing of the VF ingests at the passage some atmospheres), the surrounding noises are not lacking (urban traffic, the flow of water), the sharps are of great clarity and the partition ideally mixed with the rest.
CONCLUSION – Be careful, he's coming out!
Falling unjustly in oblivion, The Incredible Alligator access to a new life thanks to this unexpected 4K Ultra HD developed by the French publisher Carlotta Films. And to keep him company in the wastewater, the Blu-ray Alligator 2: Mutation (a new 2K restoration) has been incorporated into the steelbook box. How can you not have the fangs when the monster attacks the city... Twice?
Nyctalope like Riddick and with a very good hearing, I am ready to jump on physical editions and SVOD platforms. But if the quality isn't on the rendezvous, stop at the bite! #WeLovePhysicalMedia
