WORK - Back to the future

For millennia, aliens have taken possession of human bodies, carpeted in the shadow while waiting for their time. In order to eliminate this threat, a Guardian sent from the future is relentlessly tracking these invaders...

If you can imagine the crazy encounter between Terminator and Tiger and Dragon where the ancestral powers of the XIV century are alongside the technologies of the future (well carried to the screen by SFXs who fill their eyes), you will have a pretty good idea of this true strangeness in the current cinematic landscape which is not without evoking the series B Hong Konges of the scriptwriter-director-producer's 90s Wong Jing (including the most recent Future X-Cops !).

A total generosity, this refreshing blockbuster that mixes SF and wu xia pian fantasy with a lot of daring manages to compete with the US giant on its own ground (Cowboys and invaders Even bite the dust next to it) while preserving its identity, quite unique it goes without saying. Since beyond the above genres, pure comedy (humour really works well) coexists with sustained action (playful confrontations follow without time dead) within a completely crazy scenario that fills as many twists as imagination. Truly part 2 which in turn, is extremely jubilatory!

IMAGE - At the crossroads of times

Once it is not customary, the absence of Blu-ray in this edition will have prevented to mingle to the usual game of differences with the 4K Ultra HD (with a Dolby Vision encoding), resulting from a digital capture (with softness on the edges of the frame) finalized in 2K.

Fantasy most of the time, it has an excellent level of detail (the decorations and other trimmings) even though a slight strengthening of the sharpness can be guessed in places (some textures sparkle), slightly greenish colors with usually pimping tones (the opulence of the costumes, the thickness of the red mist and the luxuriance of the meadows), a range of contrasts of a beautiful density (an exemplary management of the light-obscurity) and light sources that shine with a bright shine (such as the temporal portal, lighthouses and lanterns).

But if the French disc is pleasantly devoid of the color banding (how is it possible?) that regularly invaded the skies of its German colleague (the publisher was defended by explaining that it was included in the source material provided by CJ ENMUnfortunately, this is not the case in underwater sequences (which are fortunately rare). The same applies to digital noise, still well present on several flats. However, everything suggests that compression is not to blame here.

SOUND - TURLUTUTUTE

Spacious and directional as possible (see Thunder's movements), the VO Dolby Atmos, which has absolutely no shortage of matter (between striking pyrotechnic effects and enveloping Middle Ages atmospheres) benefits from an appreciable dynamic while delivering always clear dialogues, a fully ventilated partition and deep bass (even if they only flirt with infra). As for the height scene, it does not miss an opportunity to manifest itself (arrows, ships that cross the city, voices, shovel blows heard from inside a coffin and passing by).

In addition to being equipped with a very unconvincing dubbing, the disharmony VF Dolby TrueHD 5.1 (not DTS-HD MA 5.1 as mistakenly mentioned by the flyer) loses a large part of the noises in the battle (the frontal is stripped) and is terribly lacking in magnitude.

CONCLUSION - The quiet morning hwang-sa?

Are we alone in our head? Not necessarily according to the very profitable director Choi Dong-hoon who said that our brain could be used as a bounty for alien prisoners ready to invade us when the time comes! Operation review? A truly unclassifiable big-budget entertainment whose overflowing energy explodes in 4K Ultra HD (most often a/V services)! Are you ready to tame lightning alongside Time Travelers?

Nyctalope like Riddick and with a very good hearing, I am ready to jump on physical editions and SVOD platforms. But if the quality isn't on the rendezvous, stop at the bite! #WeLovePhysicalMedia
