WORK – The thief of life
Paris 1941. François Mercier is an ordinary man who only aspires to start a family with the woman he loves, Blanche. He is also the employee of a talented jeweller, Mr. Haffmann. But in the face of German occupation, the two men will have no choice but to conclude an agreement whose consequences, over the months, will upset the fate of our three characters.
Adapted from the eponymous play (signed Jean-Philippe Daguerre) that won four Molières, this roundly led war drama led by three excellent actors avoids easy effects and cultivates a certain modesty to arouse emotion. The staging is elegant, skillful suspense and credible historical reconstruction. In short, this oppressive closed session gives a nuanced history lesson on the dark sides of human nature.

Very well defined, this HD copy rewards the (superbic) photo blast of the work with a sharpness to any test (it is the Sony Venice camera that was used during the shooting), solid details (the sharpness during the tight planes is incredible precision), a colorimetric palette « vintage » (from brown and grey hues) to temperate primary and measured contrasts making the part beautiful to the low brightness of the cellar of jewellery.
SON – The pact of silence
Elegance and sobriety are the adjectives of this undemonstrative multichannel soundtrack (but locally effective, especially outside) where dialogues, music and atmospheric atmospheres show a perfect balance.
CONCLUSION – An ordinary bastard?
Under the occupation in Paris, camouflage this precious Blu-ray in order to prevent it from being confiscated to fuel a traffic of goods (Jews) involving Nazis and collabos!
