WORK – No, but say, is it good or not?
Astronaut Roy McBride adventures to the limits of the solar system in search of his dead father and to solve a mystery that threatens the survival of our planet. On his journey, he will be confronted with revelations questioning the very nature of human existence, and our place in the universe.
Worn by a Brad Pitt at the top of his art (a game all in nuances) and sublimated by a staging of a sumptuous elegance, this melancholic and contemplative spatial odyssey with superb special effects invites us to a deeply intimate inner journey (where it is a question of reconnecting with his emotions) far away from the umpteenth SF film with great show (despite some shock sequences) expected by some. A futuristic film author with crazy ambition!
IMAGE – Everyone's beautiful, are you sure?
With infinite precision, this UHD HDR10 transfer stops sublimating the beautiful photography « abrupt » of the work.
The 35 mm grain, very pronounced, is applied with much more firmness, the increase in details is noticeable on faces, clothing, decorations and landscapes (including the lunar ground), the colorimetric palette is enriched with warmer and brighter hues (blues near Neptune), the contrasts are perfected with more nuanced whites (see space equipment) and deeper blacks, and the light sources are displayed with much more brightness (neon, solar rays) while letting appear what is behind the windows (which are completely opaque on the Blu-ray).
SON – He who has ears to hear, hear!
Combined by Gary Rydstrom at the Skywalker Ranch, this incredible soundtrack proposed on this edition in Dolby Atmos (for the huge VO) and DTS 5.1 (for the most bleak VF), is a striking realism.
Taking advantage of monstrous basses (especially during spatial detonations), ultra-minuous spatialisation (percussive effects and/or delicate atmospheres from everywhere), very present surrounds, an aerial scene (for the 3D soundtrack) regularly requested (announcements, debris, overvoltages, cracks, etc.) and a dynamic with quite demential energy (cf. takeoff), she does not forget that the sounds are stifled under helmets (cosmonauts) and deaf in space.
An unforgettable « walk » acoustic!
CONCLUSION – Every good thing has an end...
A 4K Ultra HD in the firmament to better explore the cosmos with Brad Pitt!
