  • Thalassophobic from all walks of life, prepare yourself to grin teeth!

Thalassophobia is the persistent and intense fear of deep water masses such as the sea, oceans or lakes. This neurosis may include fear of the depths, the vastness of the ocean, waves, aquatic creatures that evolve outside the field of vision and distance from the earth. And that's what South African developers of The Brotherhood Games understand. What's worth Stasis: Bone Totem, their latest creation after Cayne, Stasis and Beautiful Desolation ?

« I am a very smart bear now »

While they are looking for recovery equipment, Mac and Charlie fall on an abandoned oil rig in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. It is in the rusty corridors of this installation owned by the megacorporation Cayne (which replaced God, just that) that they discover a terrible secret that will take them into the abyss...

The dystopic world of Stasis: Bone Totem is extremely dark and rotten to the marrow.

One of the strengths of the ‘n click' point is its ability to deliver deeply personal stories, including text descriptions and interactions of our character with the environment. Thus, each combination, absurd as well as thoughtful, causes a reaction of the protagonist. It is all these responses and attitudes that end up facing adversity as well as the linker of the story that eventually make the psyche of our hero palpable.

Descriptions vary according to the person in possession of the object.

By putting us in command of three characters, Stasis: Bone Totem enriches this premise from the outset. Equipped with different skills (break/combiner) encouraging to exchange objects to experiment with our most twisted theories, Charlie, Mac and Moses, a robotic teddy bear, will have to collaborate to get out of this bourbier and hope to regain the surface.

Moses, the plush dog bear, is extremely endearing.

Strong of a lovecraft tinted cyberpunk atmosphere and salty masturbating of body horror, Stasis: Bone Totem transpiring passion, creativity and effort. Whether it is its volatile and mature scenario, its narrative in parallel lines of progression, the quality of its puzzles, its sound atmosphere or its detailed and carefully described environments, the work of the Bischoff brothers impresses, especially when it is known that the title has benefited from a reduced development budget.

Like a bottle at sea in an ocean of games that struggle to create new singular universes, the latest of The Brotherhood Games is a breath of fresh air: the ‘n click point of science fiction has definitely beautiful days ahead.

It is not every day that we see atmospheres that look so peaty. He seems to have a good identity.
