WORK – Duty of Memory

In a future in which North America finds itself under military occupation and children become state property, a desperate Cree mother joins a gang of vigilantes to infiltrate juvenile assimilation camps and free her daughter...

If he refers to Canada's colonialist past, where thousands of Aboriginal children, torn from their families, were forced to leave « study » In residential schools, this dystopic drama with vindictive subtext is unfortunately terribly awkward in its execution.

The context is too blurred, the psychology of the summary characters, the amorphous rhythm, the prophecy « Young Adult » already seen a thousand times and apathetic action scenes. Too bad since the universe, despite a ridiculous budget, is quite credible (decorations and CGI cared for) with its reference to the painful memories of the Third Reich.

IMAGE – The World of Tomorrow

Qualitative despite a handful of back-up plans (definition fall and visible compression), this 1080i transfer to constant readability delivers naturally punctured images where massade colorimetry and sinister contrasts call for a future without joy or hope.

SON – The Cree Song of Freedom

Harmonious, the VO uses the channels allocated to it to sound a totalitarian state where propaganda and fear regulate the lives of citizens.

The atmospheres (the rustling of the leaves in the forest) as well as the effects (the drones of the government) are well distributed, the dynamics do not come out of the nails (and thus stick to the subject), the voices that remain frontal stand out properly and the score envelopes delicately.

Much less balanced because of a dubbing (quebecois and little involved) mixed at too high a sound level, the VF sacrifice in the equation of many noises.

CONCLUSION – A country, a language, a flag?

A distance from her family to serve a country where cultural diversity is reproved, a young indigenous woman will save her community by releasing it from the hands of the occupant. The message is strong, the minor work. But for anyone who wants to discover it, this Blu-ray is a serious student (in VO)!

Nyctalope like Riddick and with a very good hearing, I am ready to jump on physical editions and SVOD platforms. But if the quality isn't on the rendezvous, stop at the bite! #WeLovePhysicalMedia
