WORK - Migrant People

The Colverts have a routine. If Dad Mack prefers to keep his family safe in their New England pond, Mom Pam wants to change things and make their two children discover the world. After meeting a family of migratory ducks, Pam persuades Mack to embark the family on a long journey to Jamaica...

If the predictable frame does not break three legs to its heroes, this road trip winged to immersive staging (the flights are hovering) and to the hectic action (the chef who flies in the feathers of our palmipedes) nevertheless remains a good child family entertainment (fuel to humor and tenderness) praising himself of freedom. For a first dip in the Hollywood pond, the French Benjamin Renner (Ernest and Celestine) is well drawn; especially as his paw (pocketed for the occasion) is found in the designs and fantasy character of several secondary characters. Ready to take off?

« - Here we go... back feather control. Check! - Wing deployment. Check! - Take off. »

IMAGE - V training

Having successfully migrated 4K (a fantastic scaling), the image delivered by this UHD Dolby Vision transfer (an average bitrate of 85 Mbps allowing no compressive predator to glide) is much less slippery than that of its counterpart 1080p. In short, a treat for the eyes where everything is just precision and tickle.

The definition gains in sharpness (better drawing backgrounds), the multitude of details is paid for substantially finer textures (dulve feathers, rural or urban environments) and the very light emulsion 35 mm benefits from an increased refinement in the darkness being thought frightening (especially in an old couple of herons zarbis).

The autumn colorimetric palette, just magnificently saturated (yellow, golden and orange leaves), fully exploits the benefits of the WCG with otherwise brighter primaries (the blue sky, the plumage of the Jamaican red laara). The same applies to other shades (such as those of Yoga rugs) where the chromatic fan ensures enhanced exuberance.

And thanks to HDR technology, the range of contrasts widens significantly, adding three-dimensionality to the shadow (by particularly firm blacks) and reinforcing the impact of light sources (light of day, sunlight on water, public lighting, neon signs, helicopter projector).

SOUND - Corner corner

A little disappointing in view of the incredible images that she sounds, this rather quiet soundtrack (unadventureful spatialization on the side of the atmospheres and bass in retreat) and never aggressive (restricted dynamics) was clearly designed to preserve the ears of our children.

The VO Dolby Atmos (24-bit, 3748 kbps) is nevertheless to be preferred over the VFQ Dolby Digital 5.1 (640 kbps) so as to benefit from a more significant multichannel activity (arrival in the big city); starting with a widely perceptible verticality as soon as a bird is in the air, but not that (storm with rain and thunder, feet striking the ground during a salsa dance where ducks are trapped on the ground)! Dialogues like music are faithfully reproduced.

CONCLUSION - Ducks without Borders

No beaking in front of this « Little Ducks Sunshine » cute and funny that will grow wings for both young and old. As for the 4K Ultra HD support, it would be an understatement to say that it gives a crazy desire to go on adventure...

Nyctalope like Riddick and with a very good hearing, I am ready to jump on physical editions and SVOD platforms. But if the quality isn't on the rendezvous, stop at the bite! #WeLovePhysicalMedia
