The tales of the crypt
So we had the opportunity to chat in 2019 with Pete Samuels about the game, its influences and its model. This interesting exchange, however, reminds us that the developers' fine intentions sometimes translate differently into practice. Released last year Man of Medan unfortunately had not convinced us, the fault to a erratic and too artificial writing, which recalls that the slope Telltate (studio instigator of the "video game of which you are the hero", closed then bought recently) is never far away...
Hopefully the next fragment entitled House of Ashes manages to reconnect with the writing and realization qualities of the original formula. Exit the seas sauvaged by storms and ghost ships, this next opus will plunge you into the middle of the desert of Arabia where something evil has awakened. An episode that draws inspiration from the same place as William Friedkin's film, Exorcist, since here also will be the demon Pazuzu. If the narrative tree is the trademark of the studio and if the license was trying to renew itself by offering the possibility of playing the title alone or accompanied, it is none the less that it is writing that will distinguish or not House of Ashes of these predecessors. Verdict on 22 October hoping that the game can accompany with dignity Halloween.
