WORK – The Dolce Vita
In a very nice little coastal town of the Italian Riviera, a young boy, Luca, lives an unforgettable summer, punctuated with delicious gelato, tasty pasta and long scooter rides. He shares his adventures with his new best friend, but this happiness is threatened by a well-kept secret: both are actually marine monsters from another world, located just below the surface of the water...
Expecting, like her childish characters, this magnificently animated adventure that has a real good ball is a touching and nostalgic friendship story about understanding differences. A sweet Italian trip... Vespa and peas!
IMAGE – Getaway to Italy
Stronger than its HD counterpart, this HDR10 UHD transfer improves all image components.
A little clearer, the definition accentuates the most intimate details (clothes) like the photorealism of environments... Well aided it is true by more robust contrasts that add precision to the underwater domain (increased fit of blacks) and liveliness to the world of men (great white shine).
Also offering a colorimetric palette with richer shades (the sky and/or blue sea, the different colors of scales, green nature) and light sources more « Happy » (reflections on – or under – the sea, sardines « stars »), this Ultra HD 4K disk is beautiful.
SON – Under the ocean
Charged at the front but very little engaged in other fields, this soundtrack Dolby Atmos certainly charming still remains too reserved... And that's a shame because once it's not customary, the standard listening level had been respected!
So yes, the voices flow with clarity, the effects/ambiences spread with sufficient clarity and the music manages to stretch beyond the shore. But the dynamics do not have much strength, the basses remain on the surface and the surrounds only too rarely activate. And if the verticality of mixing is heard from there (the human presence on the surface, the rain), it only intervenes on rare occasions.
Apart from the absence of the height scene, the VF plays equal (or almost equal) with the VO.
CONCLUSION – Like a fish in the water?
Santa Mozzarella, this delicious animated film that smells good Italy and summer should be tasted in Ultra HD Blu-ray. And if your mind is afraid to start, recite the following mantra: Silenzio Bruno!
Nyctalope like Riddick and with a very good hearing, I am ready to jump on physical editions and SVOD platforms. But if the quality isn't on the rendezvous, stop at the bite! #WeLovePhysicalMedia
