- Hunt Showdown : Crytek se ...
Ah, the joys of Bayou and those delicious warm-ups! Those who have been following us for a long time may know how Hunt is our cute sin with hundreds of hours of play Since its intimate launch in 2018. Faithful companion of confinements and breathed fresh air in a landscape of FPS, where intelligence is not always queen, Crytek's foal continues to evolve and gain popularity since its release. We take stock with the German studio (to whom we must also Crysis) on the last update and the future of this original licence.
Hunt Showdown Trailer - Maj. 1.12 - Rotjaw
Interview of the Crytek studio
K7: Hunt is an FPS that celebrates its 5 years and always more players connected to servers, how do you envisage the future of the license?
Hunt continues to grow, even after its fifth anniversary, and we invest massively in improving not only the PvPvE gaming experience of Hunt : Showdown, but also in exploring entirely new things to expand the vast world of Hunt. With the constant increase in the number of players connected to the same game, it is easy to see five more years ahead of us to engage with dedicated fans since the launch as with new players who join each day in the adventure.
K7: Hunt is a game that relies heavily on the sound experience and is probably one of the best FPS in the sector. In future updates, do you expect more gameplay elements like flying ravens, animated hens, grinning branches? Will sound mixing be further improved?
Hunt: Showdown's soundscape is world-renowned and certainly a distinctive feature. Each element added to the game is carefully studied to determine how it can and should play in sound design as both artistic and functional experience. We continually evaluate and improve audio technology and mixing solutions and do not intend to settle for what we have already established.
K7: In a more or less distant future, can we expect new maps in completely different environments: in the snow, in autumn or even in winter? Have you ever considered completely urban environments?
We announced our intention to publish a new map with a new biome in 2024. Each map is viewed in relation to the Hunt franchise features. One of them is that experiments take place in shaded and isolated corners of the world, so it is unlikely to see entirely urban environments, but exploration of corrupt or abandoned settlements is much more likely...
K7: The new boss must be fought open in the swamps. Aren't you worried that players are easy targets for snipers and ambushed hunters?
This is all part of the fun! Players can track Rotjaw through the tracks and other hunters can also see if you've spotted Rotjaw. During the event Tide of ShadowsThere will also be a new random condition that includes diluvian rains. The latter will hide you if you are caught in the rain, which means in return that players can use it to their advantage to deceive their enemies. We expect the battles around Rotjaw meetings to be varied and exciting. We also believe that it should promote new tactics and emphasize the creative use of traits and equipment.
Some players might be tempted to locate the animal and then camp around Rotjaw's resting place while waiting for other players. Counter-tacts could involve securing the boss's target clues elsewhere on the map before approaching Rotjaw directly. Having a bonus can also allow you to spot snipers using your occult vision, wherever they hide. In addition to features such as Jambe dsalligator and Snake give you a significant advantage to move quickly in the marshy areas and be able to pull off the bonus more easily in Rotjaw.
We cannot predict 100% how the audience will behave with Rotjaw and against other hunters, but we have always enjoyed the evolution of the game alongside fans.
K7: How did you find an alligator as a wild target? How did you create Rotjaw's design?
The idea of an alligator has existed since the beginning of Hunt. The alligators are naturally part of the bayou decor and naturally integrate into the atmosphere of the game. We have drawn inspiration from many fictional alligators, but we have also done a lot of research on alligators, such as how they navigate and thrive in their habitats, and how people interacted with them in the 1800s.
With Rotjaw, we wanted to bring a new experience. The open waters where you can find Rotjaw are intended to trigger fighting in areas normally rarely visited. The open nature of Rotjaw's territories also generates pressure. Players must either take care of Rotjaw as quickly as possible or silently, or force hunters to improvise on the best way to defend themselves in this open space.
This new dynamic is also intended to encourage players to take new paths and travel unexpectedly on the map. This will lead to unprecedented confrontations when hunters cross these precise locations on the map.
K7: How do new weather conditions affect gameplay?
Thunderstorm and rain are major changes for the game. They affect the player's vision and ability to hear key noises. When the rain becomes diluvian, the view is reduced and it is otherwise more delicate to hear the shots or even the steps of the enemy. However, for the smartest hunters, they can also use it to their advantage. Heavy rains also prevent hunters outside from taking fire and prevent flares and explosive barrels from burning. After a few minutes of diluvian rain, things become less pronounced and the effects of fire and flame return to normal.

So classy the design of this boss!
I miss playing with you and BennJ.
We'll play it again! With the rain, you'll see it's crazy. But don't hesitate to see with Benoist and Leo, they play there almost every day, especially Leo who has gotten a hell of a level!
I just reinstalled him :-p
It looks so classy as a game, it would almost make me want to put in it ^^
