Hungary probably expected Post Mortem to make the Gerardmer festival feel. If the film is of interest in reviving the ghost hunt to the taste of the day, fear remains to the absent subscribers. The film disappoints spent the first hour, the fault to too systematic use of jumpscares and because of actors who seem to remain stoic in the face of the supernatural events they face. This is a shame because this small Hungarian village with muddy tones and the air of Spanish patelins in the Resident Evil 4 had everything to please. An original concept but an uneven realization.
Find our video impressions of Gérardmer's festival on this curiosity which – despite some good ideas – remains too low. As for the unconditionals of the genre, they will now be able to discover it since it has been available in VOD, DVD and Blu-ray (via Condor Entertainment) for a few days.
Péter Bergendy - Director and screenwriter
A little Hungarian prodigy, Péter Bergendy was only four years old when his father offered him his first camera. Musician, director and screenwriter, Péter will be noticed with his first film Stop Mum Theresal. A few years later, his third feature film Vault wins eight Hungarian cesars. Presented at the Festival of Gérardmer 2022, Post Mortem was Hungary's new sporir. It will finally be Ego (read our critical and see our Interview) which will be awarded by the Vosges.
