An angry man
Small reminder of the facts. On the basis of his experience with Capcom, the main act of which remains the realization of Dino Crisis 2Shu Takumi became friends with the great Shinji Mikami who, very quickly, gave him the opportunity to carry out his own project, the future license: Ace Attorney. While Takumi directed and staged the first three opus of the series, initially thought as a trilogy around the lawyer, he will nevertheless remain in the script on the 4th episode appeared in 2007, Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney, thus abandoning the realization. It is this episode that will introduce a new character and hero.
From this moment on, Shu Takumi will step away from the franchise, having finished sharing what he had to tell, especially with Wright, and letting his collaborators take over. This is why he will be absent from the spin-off around Benjamin Hunter, deployed in 2008. The project is partly sponsored by Takeshi Yamazaki, who was already working on Apollo Justice, as well as by the producer Motohide Eshiro (known for producing Onimusha 2 and actively participated in the reboot DMC Theory) at the origin of the idea. The latter germinated in his mind during the development of Trials and Tribulations, opus concluding the Phoenix Wright arch.

Reprenant ce que sait faire de mieux la série, particulièrement en termes d’écriture, la duologie apporte un nouveau souffle grâce à une proposition sensiblement différente. Exit les tribunaux, place aux débats à l’air libre. Pour autant, grâce à un gamedesign intelligemment pensé pour être en adéquation avec la personnalité du procureur Hunter, les jeux nous embarquent pour ne plus nous lâcher. Ne serait-ce que pour le second opus et son apport considérable au lore, pour l’évolution du procureur, le gameplay enrichit, la collection mérite d’être parcourue !

J’avais adoré la trilogie Ace Attorney, je l’avais même refaite sur DS (ou 3DS j’ai un doute) il y a une dizaine d’années. J’ajoute cette nouvelle collection à ma liste!
En revanche, le premier opus de cette Ace Attorney Investigations Collection offrant un bilan plus mitigé, penses-tu que je pourrais attaquer directement le deuxième épisode sans trop manquer de contexte?
Tu vas malheureusement devoir passer sur le 1er. Des nouveaux personnages sont introduits dans ce dernier et réapparaissent dans le 2nd (certains sont même développés majoritairement dans le 1). Donc pour bien tout saisir et apprécier comme il se doit le casting c’est quand même mieux. Indispensable je ne sais pas, mais fortement recommandé.
C’est aussi une manière de voir l’évolution entre les deux titres. De Benjamin aussi. Je précise d’ailleurs que, même si je tacle un peu le 1er, ca reste un bon jeu. J’estime juste qu’il souffre d’enquêtes moins intéressantes et passionnantes (particulièrement les premières) en comparaison des meilleurs de la trilogie Phoenix Wright. En plus de souffrir de la comparaison de la suite qui, elle, se place dans le top de la franchise. A mon sens 🙂
